Shortly our Students will be using this facility, along with students from Elizabeth Macarthur and Camden High Schools. This state-of-the-art facility is a valuable asset for our school communities and I would like to acknowledge the work of Ms L Kenny (SWS VET Consultant and ex-EHS staff member for her hours of commitment and support in the application process), Ms A Hughes (SWS Quality Teaching Consultant, Vocational Education), Ms M Allan (Principal Officer, Trades Training Vocational Education in Schools Directorate), our staff (including Mr Buckley, Mr Clipsham, Ms Wheeler) and the Principals and staff of Camden and Elizabeth Macarthur High Schools. As a school chaplain/youth worker I am there to offer the school community an additional dimension of care and support. I will be available to students dealing with issues ranging from family breakdown and loneliness to drug abuse, grief or other crisis situations, to access the support they need. I am at the school to provide a listening ear and a caring presence for students in crisis and those who just need a friendly chat. I am not there as a counsellor but am able to provide referrals to professionals such as school counsellors. Year 11 ITT Excursion to the Sydney Wood Show This excursion was provided to enrich the knowledge and experience of students studying Industrial Technology Timber. It provided a unique opportunity to investigate timber working tools including the latest technologies available, the Intech display of the HSC major projects from 2011 (note our student Jack Cavanagh was invited to display his work at this prestigious exhibition) and the chance to purchase timber for their next project. During term 3 students will complete their Yr 11 major project, a personally designed and crafted wall mirror. The unique timbers available will provide them varied and challenging opportunities. The photograph attached shows the students standing in front of ANZ Stadium at Homebush Bay with their timber purchases. Now inspired with this unique opportunity we anticipate fabulous results. G Clipsham, A Mills Industrial Technology Timber teachers PAT FARMER TO VISIT EHS Inspiration and Motivation Speaker will be speaking to Years 11 and 12 on the 13 August 2012. Pat Famer has transformed his interest of ultra-marathon running into a professional career – setting and breaking world records globally, while simultaneously raising funds for charities and medical research programs. On 19 February 2012, after 20,919 agonising kilometres, Pat completed The Greatest Run in History – an incredible trek from the North Pole to the South Pole. After completing the North Pole he ran through Canada, USA, Mexico, Panama, the Darien Jungle and deserts of Peru and Chile, prior to commencing the final leg running through the Antarctica onto the South Pole. Pat ran Year 10 Child Studies through 14 countries, completing 2 marathons per day Year 10 Child Studies have been studying a unit called with no days off, for a total of 10 months and 13 days. “The Learning Curve”. Year 9 Textiles Students have finished making winter onesies (all in one pyjamas). Our onesies were made from polar fleece and were very warm and cuddly. A designer touch was added to make them original. Some students stitched on hoods, pockets, names and even a duck beak!

Year 11 Textiles The girls have just completed their toy creations. As a class we experimented with many new techniques Public Speaking Update 2012 including fabric dyeing, fabric manipulation and embroidery. Lachlan won the event and will now compete in the Regional Final on the 16th August, 2012. Brooke Murray and Lachlan Macdonald from Year 9 have been selected to host the VIP Showcase of the South Western Sydney Drama Festival during Week 7 of this term. SCIENCE WEEK: 11-19th August, week 5 The Creative and Performing Arts Faculty proudly National Science week is an annual celebration of Science in Australia, an opportunity to join together and explore present… the wonders and benefits of science. The 2012 school's theme for National Science Week is 'Energy Evolution' taking the idea from the United Nations “International Year of Sustainable Energy for All”. The “Energy Evolution” is a concept about getting more from our existing resources, to increase global resource productivity, create new economic growth, and reduce energy costs for all citizens on our fragile Earth.
