But the specialization of many products results in increased costs for each function while also having to deal with any incompatibilities all these functions into a single product. Sollac's development of a natural cork-based thermal coating was initiated by a customer using a similar product but short of the performance required in coating wood-fired ovens. The need led to the research and improvement of the product. CHARACTERISTICS AND PROPERTIES - THERMAL AND ACOUSTIC EFFICIENCY AND REGULATION The choice of cork as a material for thermal insulation was essentially made on the basis of its properties, in fact cork, in contrast to other building materials, is preferred when it comes to insulation because it is breathable, waterproof, impermeable, it does not age, is constant over time in its insulation properties. It is also known that much of the heat produced by heating a house is dispersed due to the presence of structural elements made with traditional materials such as wood and concrete, both being good thermal conductors. The cork in turn eliminates, or at least considerably reduces, these problems. By retaining heat during cold weather, reducing heating costs and in hot weather it works to keep the heat out, reducing cooling costs. At the same time, urban mobility is included in the framework of the Healthy Cities movement. In this context, using the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (LMA), Portugal, as the study area, this article intends to answer the following research question: are sustainable urban mobility policies contributing to healthy cities? Urban mobility planning and public health instruments were compared with the discourses and practices of those responsible for the implementation of urban mobility policies and Healthy Cities projects. The results reveal that a large number of responses proposed in the mobility planning instruments are, to some extent, related to the principles of healthy cities. Also, while municipal agents tend not to consider the inclusion of those principles, they instead incorporate the concepts of sustainable development. Nevertheless, we found that both approaches overlap the policy directions of healthy cities.
