INDEX DAVID CUSICK DAVID CUSICK 1780 Death of John Logan, Cayuga Indian Chief. Who will mourn for Logan? In about this year David Cusick was born, probably on the Oneida reservation in upstate New York. Nicholas Cusick, his father of the Tuscarora tribe, was a Revolutionary War veteran and had served as an interpreter for the Congregationalist mission to the Seneca. David would become a physician and a painter, and would publish a book about the oral traditions of his tribe. A younger brother, Dennis, would become a watercolor painter, and the brothers would help establish the early Iroquois Realist Style of painting. INDEX DAVID CUSICK DAVID CUSICK 1812 The song “Hey, Betty Martin” was the favorite marching song of the War of 1812. David Cusick would serve on the side of the Americans during this war. His Iroquois village would be burned by the British. US Army Chief of Engineers Joseph G. Swift, while planning the defense of Ogdensburg, New York, met the father of Charles Davies, who was a county Sheriff, and was sufficiently impressed with the proficiency of young Davies to help the family secure him an appointment to the West Point Military Academy of the US Army. Just at this point, Lemuel Shattuck began a diary. The opening sentence of this diary is as follows: “This day 19 years ago I was born into this world a sinner possest of that principle which is opposed to God and his government; totally depraved in all my actions, desires and affections.” LIFE IS LIVED FORWARD BUT UNDERSTOOD BACKWARD? — NO, THAT’S GIVING TOO MUCH TO THE HISTORIAN’S STORIES. LIFE ISN’T TO BE UNDERSTOOD EITHER FORWARD OR BACKWARD. “Stack of the Artist of Kouroo” Project David Cusick HDT WHAT? Presidents fail because one massive flaw ISBN 0-670-84260-5 — PS3562.A515G58 Mar 4th — To Carlisle — Surveying. I had 2 friends. The one offered me friendship on such terms that I could not accept it, without a sense of degradation — He would not meet me on equal terms — but only be to some extent my patron. He would not come to see me, but was hurt if I did not visit him — He would not readily accept a favor — but would gladly confer one — He treated me with ceremony occasionally — though he could be simple & down right sometimes. — and from time to time acted a part treating me as if I were a distinguished stranger — Was on stilts — using made words. Our relation was one long tragedy — for I did not directly speak of it. — I do not believe in complaint, nor in explanation The whole is but too plain alas already. We grieve that we do not have each other — that we cannot confide in each other. I could not bring myself to speak and so recognize an obstacle to our affection — I had another friend, who through a slight obtuseness perchance did not recognize a fact — which the dignity of friendship could by no means allow me to descend so far as to speak of — & yet the inevitable effect of that ignorance was to hold us apart forever. Instead, someone has requested that we pull it out of the hat of a pirate who has grown out of the shoulder of our pet parrot “Laura” (as above). What these chronological lists are: they are research reports compiled by ARRGH algorithms out of a database of modules which we term the Kouroo Contexture (this is data mining).
