WESTERN HIGH SCHOOL CODE 2019 - 2020

Students are expected to dress in a reasonable appropriate for a school setting. We expect each student to dress appropriately so that our school environment remains focused on learning and free from distractions. depicting drugs, sex, vulgarity, or gangs is strictly prohibited.

Shirts:  All must have or longer and the bottom of all shirts must overlap the bottom wearing apparel.  No sheer or low cut tops that bare or expose the chest, midriff, or will be permitted.  No Tank Tops are permitted (unless a covering is worn)  No undergarments are to be seen.  Students are encouraged to wear Western apparel.

Pants:  Students must wear pants, , , athletic wear pants or shorts, , or to school. All shorts, skirts, and dresses must be no shorter than fingertip length.  Slits in skirts and holes in pants/shorts must meet the same fingertip length (items may be worn underneath the holes to prevent bare skin from being seen).  This rule applies to Western team worn to school as well.  No sagging is allowed (no undergarments are to be seen)

Outerwear:  Students may wear and , but hoods must be down at ALL times.  Students are not allowed to carry blankets during the day.  No bandanas are allowed

Headwear:  Religious apparel must be approved by administration.  Headwear and , are to be stored away during the school day.  Hair- are acceptable only if used to manage hair and not for decorative purposes.

Shoes:  and/or Dress/Athletic must be worn at all times.  Students taking GYM, CARPENTRY, CULINARY, SCIENCE LAB, & NURSING courses must wear closed toe/heel shoes for these classes. Bags:  Backpacks are allowed inside the classroom. All students are required to come to class prepared with pen/pencil and paper.

*Sleepwear is not permitted (i.e. house shoes, pajamas, hair wraps, du-rags, etc)

**Students are expected to keep themselves well-groomed and neatly dressed at all times. Any form of dress, hairstyle/hair color, or accessory that is considered contrary to school hygiene or that is blatantly distracting or disruptive to the educational process is prohibited.

***Students who arrive at school not appropriately dressed will be allowed to call home for a change of clothing or will be given clothing by the Youth Services Center. Those unable to be in will be placed in ISAP until dress code is corrected.

When a question arises, the administrative team will use discretion in deciding if a student meets requirements. The decisions made by the administrators are final.
