There are over 140 hotels in Eilat; over 60 of them ranked as 5-star hotels (according to TripAdvisor). Resting between the Red Sea, with its rich sea life, coral, and historical desert landmarks, Eilat draws tourists from all over the world looking for fun-in-the- sun and luxury hospitality. Eilat is a southern Israeli port and resort town on the Red Sea, near Jordan and Egypt. Its beaches are noted for their calm waters, like Dolphin Reef, where the aquatic mammals are often spotted. Known for snorkeling and diving, Coral Beach Nature Reserve has buoy-marked underwater trails among fish-filled reefs. Nearby Coral World Underwater Observatory Marine Park has a glass-enclosed observation center submerged offshore. Study in Israel ABOUT BGU EILAT CAMPUS Ben-Gurion University opened the Eilat campus in 2002. About 25% of students are residents of the city, so you can see the campus and the special atmosphere that attracts many foreign residents to come and expand academic horizons in Eilat. The program will be taught in English and will include internships at the large four and five stars hotels in Eilat. For current or recently graduated students, there are two tracks of the Study and Intern program to choose from: Academic Courses in Hospitality & Tourism for 14 Academic Credits Certification in Israeli, Middle-Eastern, & Mediterranean Cuisine DURATION: Fall or spring semester for 5 or 6 months DATES: A group of students coming together are afforded the flexibility to determine their own start date and academic courses in conjunction with Lirom and Ben-Gurion University. SPRING 2017 March 1st 2017 – August 31st 2017 (6 months) * FALL 2017 August 2017 – January 2018 (5 months) * * Dates subject to change and availability Study in Israel STUDY AND INTERN • Per Fall/Spring semester: four courses (3 credits each) with internship (2 credits) valued at 14 academic credits in the field of hospitality and tourism from Ben-Gurion University OR Students may choose a certification track focusing on Israeli, Mediterranean, and Middle-Eastern Cuisine. • Six days of activities per week (1 day off for free-time). • Out of which: two days are dedicated to studies and four days to professional internships. » 4 shifts of 9 hours a week (includes breaks) at 4 or 5-star hotels in Eilat. » Classes will be taught at Ben-Gurion University’s Eilat Campus. • The program also includes relevant enrichment: » Weekly lectures from different holders of key positions in the hotel, such as marketing, security, and management. » Bi-monthly workshops and seminars on a wide range of related hospitality and culinary topics, like wine, meat, spices, and customer service. » On alternating weeks, lessons about Israel including people, history, Hebrew language and more. » 7 days of tours of Israel (4 days at program start and 3 days midway). 11 Hospitality & Tourism Study in Israel TRACK 1 ACADEMIC CURRICULUM IN HOSPITALITY & TOURISM Each course is valued at 3 academic credits from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev’s International School of Hotel Management and Tourism.
