His care is ever present, even in those dark moments of our lives when it Friday: Acts 13:26-33/Ps 2:6-7, 8-9, 10-11ab [7bc]/Jn seems He is nowhere to be found. Sometimes it is hard to 14:1-6 trust, but continuing to trust even when it seems hard to do Saturday: Acts 13:44-52/Ps 98:1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4 [3cd]/Jn so is the foundational virtue of meekness. 14:7-14 Like sheep, we sometimes stray. Like a Good Shepherd, Sunday: Acts 9:26-31/Ps 22:26-27, 28, 30, 31-32 [26a]/1 the Lord seeks us out to bring us back. Unlike sheep, we Jn 3:18-24/Jn 15:1-8 are not forced into the flock, but lovingly invited. The Lord can out wait our stubbornness and foolhardiness. His arms Worship Schedule are always open to us. PRAYERS FOR VOCATIONS Most Holy Virgin, certain of your intercession, we pray that the mysteries of the Risen Christ and of the Holy Spirit may enlighten many to become willing and generous servants of the Church. We pray for our youth to whom the Lord address- es a special invitation of closer fellowship. May they refuse to be carried away by the things of this world, but open their hearts instead, to the friendly voice that calls them. May they feel capable of making a life-long commitment to Christ and to his Church for the salvation of mankind. May they trust that divine grace will endow them with the power to make a total offering of themselves as they feel the attraction of priestly, religious and missionary life. We pray for the Christian families, that they may provide a favorable atmosphere for their youngsters and help them make the right choices. We be- seech you that all priests and religious be an example to our youth by their availability and humble readiness to accept the gifts of the Holy Spirit. May they be able to extend all the fruits of love and peace. Amen. (Pope John Paul II) All of us have a vocation – clergy and religious life, married and single. How are you living your vocation? RESPECT LIFE Laying down our lives: The Good Shepherd lays down his life for his sheep. This theme is found also in the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) On the road from Jerusalem to Jericho, a man fell in with robbers. A priest and a Levite came by, but did not stop to help. Despite their knowledge of the Law and Prophets, they walked right by. Why? One of the reasons may be that they were afraid. The road from Jerusalem to Jericho is a dangerous road. Because of its numerous steep curves, it lends itself to attacks by robbers who can easily hide not too far from their victims. Perhaps the priests and Levites who passed by that man asked themselves, "If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me? Maybe the robbers who attacked him are still here. Maybe they're hiding just around the bend. This is a dangerous road. I better keep going." Sometimes we ask the same question. If, for example, I speak up too loudly about the victims of abortion, what will happen to me? Will I face persecution, will I encounter opposition, will I lose popularity if I get involved in a cause like this? And then the Good Samaritan came along, and he reversed the question. He didn't ask, "If I help this man, what will happen to me?" The Good Samaritan asked, "If I do not help this man, what will happen to him?" And that's the question for us. If I do not address this evil, what will happen to the unborn? If I do not get involved, what will happen to those who are vulnerable, to those who are marginalized our society, those who are oppressed, those who have no one to speak for them?
