Founded by its Music Director , Early Company’s vision is to celebrate in ways that stir, delight and inspire audiences.

Early Opera Company has recently featured on BBC’s #OperaPassion day on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune from the V&A Museum, performed Handel in Egitto at Handel Festival at St John’s Smith Square, and released a highly-regarded surround-sound recording of Handel’s Acis and Galatea for Chandos with Allan Clayton and in the title roles.

EOC received an Olivier Award nomination (Outstanding Achievement in Opera) with for Monteverdi Orfeo at The Roundhouse and Cavalli L’ at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. This association continued with 5-star reviews for Rossi Orpheus, more recently for Monteverdi The Return of Ulysses at The Roundhouse.

The Company frequently feature the music of the French baroque, including Charpentier Actéon and Rameau Platée and . Other recent Handel performances at Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square and festivals around the UK include , and . Award-winning Handel opera recordings on Chandos include Serse, Alceste, , and , and Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno on Wigmore Live.

Future plans include a concert performance of Handel at the , and a double-bill of Purcell and Blow Venus and Adonis at The Concertgebouw Amsterdam, along with the development of our Emerging Musicians Programme to provide support to the next generation of baroque specialists.

The Company is going from strength to strength and, as part of a newly-refreshed 3-year strategic plan, we would like to enhance our small but dedicated Board of Trustees with more people who are passionate about our vision and keen to contribute actively to the governance of our charity.

In particular, we are looking for up to 3 dedicated and inspirational individuals who have skills and current experience as one or more of the following: i. Charity accountant ii. Lawyer iii. Marketing specialist (preferably arts/broadcasting) iv. Family arts specialist v. Arts fundraising – or more specifically, somebody who has the capacity to lead a fundraising group as part of the Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees meet four times a year in Central London for two hours, c.6.30- 8.30pm, as well as attending concerts, occasional fundraising receptions and training as required. We would welcome applicants with commercial or charitable experience and from all sections of the community.
