Getting Ready for Your Online Instructor-Led Class

Preparing for your online instructor-led class is a four step process. In each step, we’ve included detailed directions and even some tips to help you along the way. To get started, scroll through this document or click on a step below to be taken directly to that step.

Step 1: Enable Audio so You Can Hear the Presenter.

Step 2: Download the Class Materials and Setup Instructions.

Step 3: If Applicable-Log In to the Virtual Environment and Sample Database.

Step 4: Click to Let Your Instructor Know You’re Set Up!

Step 1: Enable Audio so You Can Hear the Presenter

WebEx® uses an audio conference for the audio. There is no phone number to call. To access the audio for the class:

1. You should receive a prompt upon entering the class. Click Yes to access audio.

2. If there is no prompt, click the Audio >Integrated Voice Conference>Join Conference.

Step 2: Download the Class Materials and Setup Instructions

The class materials provide a reference during and after class. You can print the handout or save it to your . To download the class materials:

1. On the File Transfer , highlight the file and clickDownload or right-click the file, and then click Download.

2. If you do not see the File Transfer window, on the , click Transfer.

Step 3: If Applicable-Log In to the Virtual Environment and Sample Database

You can use the virtual sample database for your class.

Mac Users:

Before selecting your link to the , you must download the Remote Desktop Connection Client.

1. Click the Mac Users link.

2. Follow the steps below for your internet browser:

–Open the file at the bottom of your browser window.

• Firefox–When prompted to “Open with” or “Save” the file, selectOpen With>OK.

–When prompted to “Open” or “Save” the file, selectOpen>OK.

• Safari–When Prompted to “Open” or “Save” the file, selectOpen>OK.

All Users:

The virtual sample database is located on the virtual desktop. To access the virtual desktop and sample database:

1. Click the link to your name.

2. On the File Download window, click Open.

3. On the Windows Security window, enter the email address associated with your registration (in lower case).

4. Click OK.

5. On the virtual desktop, double-click The Raiser’s Edge or The Financial (Education) Edge .

6. Click your name in the list.

Tips for navigating the virtual desktop and sample database:

A. Resize the virtual desktop to access your local desktop.

B. Resize the sample database to access your virtual desktop.

C. Navigate inside the virtual desktop using the .

Tips for using the virtual desktop and sample database:

• Save files to the virtual desktop.

• If you close the virtual desktop or sample database window, log in again.

• Use the title bars to move windows.

• Maximize the virtual desktop to find the task bar.

Access Your Locally Installed Sample Database

If you are unable to access the virtual desktop, you can use your locally installed sample database. To log in to the sample data:

1. On your computer, click Start and point to All Programs.

2. Click the appropriate program.

3. Click Sample Database.

4. Enter the following login information:

• User name: supervisor • Password: ADMIN 5. Click the right arrow.

Step 4: Click to Let Your Instructor Know You’re Set Up!

Once you are ready for class, you can click to your instructor to indicate that you are set up and ready.
