THE COUNTY COUNCIL (A512 TO ROAD) (BOROUGH OF ) (IMPOSITION OF 40MPH AND 50MPH SPEED LIMIT) ORDER 202

THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Sections 5 and 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be:

1. To revoke existing 40mph speed limit on part of the A512 between M1 junction and A512 in Loughborough 2. To impose a 40mph speed limit on part of A512 Ashby Road, Loughborough in both directions including the circulatory carriageway 3. To impose a 50mph speed limit on part of A512 Ashby Road West, Shepshed, the M1 junction 23 for the circumference of the circulatory carriageway, Ashby Road, Loughborough in both directions and Snells Nook Lane, Loughborough

STATEMENT OF REASONS

Leicestershire County Council proposes to make the following order.

It is necessary to revoke the existing 40, 60 & 70mph speed limit along the stretch of A512 Ashby Road, Shepshed to Loughborough, which will be replaced with 50mph speed limit.

The Leicestershire County Council (''the Council") in exercise of its powers under

Sections 5, 84 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the

Act") and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of

Police in accordance with Part Ill of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby makes the following

Order:-

1. This Order may be cited as "The Leicestershire County Council (A512

Shepshed to Loughborough Road) (Borough of Charnwood) (Imposition of

40mph 50mph Speed Limit) Order 202 "

2. The Order shall come into force on the day of

3. The Orders specified in Schedule 1 to this Order are revoked in full.

4. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 MPH on

the lengths of roads as specified in Schedule 2 to this Order

5. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 MPH on

the lengths of roads as specified in Schedule 3 to this Order 6. The plan annexed to this Order and marked drawing number MPT0037 –

The Leicestershire County Council ("the Council") in exercise of its powers under Sections 1,

84(1) and (2) of, and Part IVof Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the

Act") and of all other enabling powers and afterconsultation with the chief officerof police in accordance with PartIII and IV of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby makesthe following

Order:-

1. No person shall drive any motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the

lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this Order.

2. Schedule 4 of the "Borough of Chamwood (Various Locations) LoughboroughTraffic

Regulation Order 1993" where it refersto a prohibition of overtaking Ashby Road

180 metres east of its junctionwith Snells Nook Lane in a westerly direction for a

distance of 600 metres is hereby revoked.

3. This Order may be cited as "The Leicestershire County Council (Ashby Road (A512)

(Part) and Snells Nook Lane (Part) Loughborough) ( 40 mph Speed Limit and

Revocation of o Overtaking) Order 2002", and shall come into force on the 1_4th day

Ashby Road (AS 12) Loughborough (bothcarriageways) froma point approximately 68 metres west of its junctionwith Old Ashby Road westwardsto its junction with Snells Nook Lane, a distance of approximately 290 metres.

Ashby Road (A512) Loughborough (eastbound carriageway) from a point 3 metres east of the start of the central reservation to its junction with Snells Nook Lane, a distance of approximately 76 metres.

AshbyRoad (AS 12) Loughborough (westbound carriageway) fromits junction with Snells Nook Lane to a point 28 metres west of the central island at its junction with Snells Nook Lane.
