The course (module) is devised according to FSES HE requirements approved on February,9, 2016 by Order of Ministry of Health, Russian Federation) and vocational functions of General Practitioner (primary care physician, district doctor) Professional Standard.

1. TYPE OF PRACTICE, METHOD AND FORM OF CARRYING OUT The hospital practice “Practice for obtaining professional skills and professional experience (ward nurse аssistant )” is carried out discretely, in a stationary and retreat way for 20 days of 4th semesters in the premises of the Nursing Organization Department, as well as in the rooms of medical organizations of Voronezh city, Voronezh region and other regions of the Russian Federation at the student’s residence on the basis of agreements.

2. EXPECTED EDUCATIONAL RESULTS OF THE COURSE

THE COURSE AIM AND SCOPE: to teach students main stages of the ward nurse work and apply their knowledge in hospital.

Practice Objectives: Students have to Know: - Compliance with the rules of asepsis and antiseptics at the nurse post; - an algorithm for assisting the ward nurse during various manipulations: - extracting medicinal solution from an ampoule and a bottle to the , - carrying out sanitary treatment of the patient upon admission to the hospital and during his stay in the hospital, - the timing and rules for changing underwear and bedding of the patient, - prevention and treatment of pressure sores, - a technique for measuring body temperature, - methodology for daily dieresis control, biological material for laboratory research collection, - rules for anthropometry, - rules for disinfection and pre-sterilization preparation of medical instruments, materials and patient care items, - the method of antibiotics dilution , - the technique of setting cleansing, hypertonic, siphon, nutritious, medicinal, oil , - performing manipulations according to the doctor prescriptions and keeping records of the performed manipulations: - determination of the pulse on the radial artery, its characteristics and the rules for recording received data; - registration of the patient’s body temperature results, - taking a smear from the throat and nose for laboratory research; - methods of parenteral drug administration (subcutaneous, intramuscular ); - decontamination of and other medical instruments in the procedure room, - pre-sterilization cleaning and sterilization at a central sterilization unit; - the first-aid medical care provision in case of medical procedures complications, calling a doctor; - complications registration in the appropriate journal; - compliance with the sanitary and anti-epidemic regime, as well as measures to prevent HIV / AIDS and viral hepatitis B and C at the nursing post; - keeping records of drug consumption; - correct maintenance of records at the post in the established form.
