The Huntingfield area has a varied vegetation, including substantial areas ofEucalyptus amygdalina heathy woodland, heath, buttongrass moorland and E. amygdalina shrubbyforest, with smaller areas ofwetland, grassland and E. ovata shrubbyforest. Six floristic communities are described for the area. Two hundred and one native vascular plant taxa, 26 moss species and ten liverworts are known from the area, which is particularly rich in orchids, two ofwhich are rare in Tasmania. Four other plant species are known to be rare and/or unreserved inTasmania. Sixty-four exotic plantspecies have been observed in the area, most ofwhich do not threaten the native biodiversity. However, a group offire-adapted shrubs are potentially serious invaders. Management problems in the area include the maintenance ofopen areas, weed invasion, pathogen invasion, introduced animals, fire, mechanised recreation, drainage from houses and roads, rubbish dumping and the gathering offirewood, sand and plants. The material for tliis third unpretensive addition to the literature on Tasmanian plants has gradually been brought together from various sources. It was intended to offer this new contribution some considerable time ago, but the harassing anxieties which arose during the last few years in the writer's official life, and the impediment which thu3 occurred to his work in all directions, must plead excuse for the retarded appearance of this record of all those plants, placed so kindly at his disposal by several disinterested con- tributors. Some of the Algae now specially mentioned as not known from Tasmania at the time when Dr. Jos. Dalton Hooker's great work appeared, were already recorded in the magnificent volumes of the late Dr. Harvey's Phycologia, on the scientific elaboration and artistic embellishment of which work he spent also on Tasmanian shores many of his valuable days. These Algae, for completeness sake, have been admitted into the present supplementary list, along with more recently discovered species, on the examination of which the great authority of Professor Dr. J. Agardh, of Lund, was brought to bear. For quotations and arrangement, the writer of these lines is responsible. Circumstances over which he had no control, frustrated his plans to visit Mount Humboldt and the surrounding Alps for new observations but he trusts to traverse these secluded highlands, which seem yet to promise much addition to our knowledge of the Tas- manian vegetation, during the approaching spring or summer. -

Biodiversity Summary for NRM Regions Species List What is the summary for and where does it come from? This list has been produced by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (SEWPC) for the Natural Resource Management Spatial Information System. The list was produced using the AustralianAustralian Natural Natural Heritage Heritage Assessment Assessment Tool Tool (ANHAT), which analyses data from a range of plant and animal surveys and collections from across Australia to automatically generate a report for each NRM region. Data sources (Appendix 2) include national and state herbaria, museums, state governments, CSIRO, Birds Australia and a range of surveys conducted by or for DEWHA. For each family of plant and animal covered by ANHAT (Appendix 1), this document gives the number of species in the country and how many of them are found in the region. It also identifies species listed as Vulnerable, Critically Endangered, Endangered or Conservation Dependent under the EPBC Act. A biodiversity summary for this region is also available. This includes all mammals, birds, reptiles, frogs and fish, 137 families of vascular plants (over 15,000 species) and a range of invertebrate groups. Locally Threatened Plants in Manningham
Locally Threatened Plants in Manningham Report by Dr Graeme S. Lorimer, Biosphere Pty Ltd, to Manningham City Council Version 1.0, 28 June, 2010 Executive Summary A list has been compiled containing 584 plant species that have been credibly recorded as indigenous in Manningham. 93% of these species have been assessed by international standard methods to determine whether they are threatened with extinction in Manningham. The remaining 7% of species are too difficult to assess within the scope of this project. It was found that nineteen species can be confidently presumed to be extinct in Manningham. Two hundred and forty-six species, or 42% of all indigenous species currently growing in Manningham, fall into the ‘Critically Endangered’ level of risk of extinction in the municipality. This is an indication that if current trends continue, scores of plant species could die out in Manningham over the next decade or so – far more than have become extinct since first settlement. Another 21% of species fall into the next level down on the threat scale (‘Endangered’) and 17% fall into the third (‘Vulnerable’) level. The total number of threatened species (i.e. in any of the aforementioned three levels) is 466, representing 82% of all indigenous species that are not already extinct in Manningham. These figures indicate that conservation of indigenous flora in Manningham is at a critical stage. This also has grave implications for indigenous fauna. Nevertheless, corrective measures are possible and it is still realistic to aim to maintain the existence of every indigenous plant species presently in the municipality. The scope of this study has not allowed much detail to be provided about corrective measures except in the case of protecting threatened species under the Manningham Planning Scheme. -

MANAGEMENT PLAN 2016 Narawntapu National Park HAWLEY NATURE RESERVE Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment Narawntapu National Park Hawley Nature Reserve Management Plan 2016 Narawntapu National Park, Hawley Nature Reserve - Management Plan 2016 NARAWNTAPU NATIONAL PARK HAWLEY NATURE RESERVE MANAGEMENT PLAN 2016 (Replacing the Narawntapu National Park, Hawley Nature Reserve Management Plan 2000) This management plan replaces the Narawntapu National Park, Hawley Nature Reserve Management Plan 2000. This management plan has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of Part 3 of the National Parks and Reserves Management Act 2002. Unless otherwise specified, this plan adopts the interpretation of terms given in the Act. The term ‘Director’ refers to the Director of National Parks and Wildlife. The term ‘Park’ refers to the Narawntapu National Park. The term “Reserve” refers to the Hawley Nature Reserve. The appendices do not form part of this statutory plan, but are provided as additional information to assist in management. The draft management plan was available for public comment from 14 November 2015 until 16 December 2015. Nineteen representations were received on the draft plan, providing valuable information and recommendations for management of the Park. This input and effort is gratefully acknowledged. Approval This management plan was approved by Her Excellency the Governor-in- Council on 29 November 2016 and took effect on 21 December 2016, being seven days after publication of that approval in the Government Gazette.
