The courthouse has been closed since a fire broke out in the main electrical room on the building’s seventh floor on Oct. 4, 2020. The fire caused water damage to part of the building. “The Thunder Bay Courthouse at 125 Brodie St. N. remains closed while repairs are conducted,” Brian Gray, a spokesperson with the ministry said in an emailed statement. “Significant progress is being made to return to normal operations and the ministry intends to reopen the courthouse in mid-February,” Gray adds.
