The original structures were influenced by architect Bertram G. Goodhue, who designed many buildings for the military in addition to his work in Balboa Park for the 1915 exposition. Goodhue created a simplified Spanish Colonial Revival style with plain and unadorned Pueblo influences, which was implemented throughout NTC by the Navy Public Works Office.
