Nov. 5, 2008 Around seven years ago today, days after the Obama campaign clinched its first victory, students and professors gathered on campus to catch a glimpse of Vice President-elect and 1965 university graduate Joe Biden, who was invited to the university to speak. The event brought hundreds to The Green in front of Memorial Hall, where Biden met with student supporters, reminisced about his time at the university and gave a speech on the goals of the new administration. To think that just one year from now, the future president of the United States will be chosen—and the historical election that seemed just like yesterday will be in our distant memory. Underneath a flickering street lamp arching over the red bricks of Main Street, Liz Racca adjusts the sleeves of her black and gray flannel, leaning forward on the cold surface of an off-white bench. For a moment, she is silent, after having just spent the past few hours working on various homework assignments.
