The evidence of the wartime experience of Europe’s Jewish population in ghettos such as Podgorze, coupled with a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau, will enable pupils to develop a thorough, rounded picture of the experience of Jewish communities and discrimination in central Europe during the 20th century. Travel is by air from Manchester You will have the opportunity to travel on cable cars, view glaciers such as the Langgletscher Glacier and rapid rivers such as the Rhone and Gorge du Trient. We will travel to an ice cave, the spectacular Mer de Glace by funicular railway and spend the day in Chamonix. We will have the opportunity to sample Swiss foods at the Nestle Chocolate Factory and Gruye cheese factory where we will consider the global nature of these businesses and the inputs, process and outputs. This will build on learning at KS3 and prepare for GCSE.
