Perth Honda www.perthhonda.co.uk Dewars Centre, Perth, Scotland Chairman’s Welcome I am delighted to welcome you all, on behalf of the organising committee, to the Mercure City of Perth Masters 2019, a World Curling Tour event. A massive thank you to our title sponsor, Mercure Perth Hotel, our presenting sponsor Perth Honda and to Perth & Kinross Council for their continued excellent support of this event. Attracting entries this year has been challenging however I know we still have a Top-Class field, from all over the world, assembled at Dewars Centre. Paul Martin and ice crew will provide world-class curling ice and spectators can enjoy watching the games live, on TV and via webstream. Enjoy Perth and Perthshire for what it has to offer and I look forward to many exciting games of curling and the image courtesy of Oakford Media Cover usual sociable curling fellowship off the ice! Scotland - a very special welcome to you all. I’m sure there will be an air of excitement to the competition as we look forward to another exciting weekend of curling, following hot on the heels of the recent Le Gruyere AOP European Curling Championships 2018 in Tallinn, Estonia. The gold medal was won by Team Mouat representing Scotland on their first European appearance for this Scottish team. On behalf of us all, I’m sure you’ll join me in congratulating the team on their magnificent win. The Mercure City of Perth Masters is usually the first sporting event of the year, and with the extremely large delegation of overseas competitors and supporters travelling here to Perth, gives this year’s event a truly international flavour. Curling has always been a traditional Scottish winter sport and continues to be popular all over the world, but the one thing that I have always admired about curlers is their ethic of sportsmanship and the friendships that are made by curlers from all over the world, friendships that last a lifetime. I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend here in Perth and continue to make new friends and catch up with your old ones Dennis Melloy and have a “Guid Blether”. My best wishes to you all.
