As COVID-19 Decimates Job Markets, EFE Helps Youth Reskill to Find New Opportunities The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted job markets around the world and left many youth and women newly unemployed. In response, EFE Affiliates leapt into action. In addition to helping youth land their first jobs, EFE is now helping youth across the Middle East and North Africa who lost their jobs due to the pandemic reskill to find new positions. From helping young Moroccan women move into in- demand teaching assistant and technology roles to increasing the percentage of female trainees for jobs in Yemen's healthcare field, we're proud to help youth break down barriers and gain new competencies. JP Morgan Project on a High Note in Saudi Arabia After two years of preparing Saudi youth for the workforce, the Workplace Success Program sponsored by JPMorgan Chase Foundation at EFE-Saudi Arabia is going strong! The program teaches skills including effective communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence, time management, and customer service, then connects graduates to the world of work with job opportunities. Over 160 trainees have found new possibilities thanks to the successful partnership.

EFE-Palestine Partners to Break Discriminatory Norms for Women in the Economy EFE-Palestine is a partner in a project with The Palestinian Working Women Society for Development, funded by UN Women, called "Breaking Discriminatory Norms to Promote Women’s Inclusion in the Economy". For its part, EFE-Palestine will promote the value of women’s work and the equal and collective sharing of household work and encourage women to enter diverse occupations through engagement at the community, government, and corporate levels. EFE-Palestine Project Manager Rawya Al Farra participated in the project's launch event by speaking about challenges faced by Palestinian women. We're excited to watch this project progress!

EFE-Yemen Entrepreneurs Demonstrate Entrepreneurship Skills We love seeing creative minds come together! As successful small business owners, EFE-Yemen entrepreneurs in the Affiliate's Livelihoods for Yemen's Future Entrepreneurs (LYFE) project had the opportunity to participate in the Show I Can entrepreneur exhibition in Sana'a. At the exhibition, they took advantage of opportunities to attend unique training sessions, market their ideas to investors, and network with other successful entrepreneurs.

EFE-Jordan Transforms Futures with USAID

EFE-Jordan is excelling as an implementing partner for USAID's Training for Employment Activity—so far, the program has transformed the futures of 1,989 trainees. USAID Jordan featured EFE-Jordan trainee Aseel Abu Areeda in its September 2020 newsletter. After graduating with a bachelor's in Press and Media, Aseel realized she needed to expand her skill set to be competitive in the media industry and enrolled in EFE-Jordan's Digital Marketing course. After the course, her new knowledge helped her get promoted within six months of being hired at a leading national station in Jordan. Aseel says, "The program helped me land a job that I love. My advice to youth is to grab every learning opportunity and work hard so that they can reach their dreams." She definitely has us convinced about the power of education!

EFE's Film Project Reaches EFE is forging ahead with its film project to highlight success stories of our Affiliates and alumni through short edited films in partnership with MBC Hope and a private donor. After gathering footage in the UAE, the team has reached Egypt, where EFE-Egypt highlighted alum Abdulmegeed. Of course, there is no better way to showcase beautiful Cairo than from a felucca on the Nile!

EFE-Jordan Wins October Photo of the Month For the third month in a row, EFE-Jordan clinched the honor of #EFEPhotoOfTheMonth. In October, the Affiliate's entry featured a trainee in Tafilah learning garment-making skills as part of the USAID Training for Employment that EFE-Jordan is implementing.
