It emphasizes onhow they assert their Arab identity through cooking Arab food within the U.S. landscape. It also stresseson how as contemporary Arab American memoirists, Abu Jaber and Hammad tend to bridge the gap between Eastern and Western worlds, and rely on the journey motif in the search for their identities. The purpose of this study is to show how, in their culinary diasporic memoirs, the writers enhance the nostalgia of the homeland and remembering of the beautiful sense of Jordan and Palestine, via smell and taste memory.
