The inspiration for this collection came amidst the energy and excitement of the 2008 presidential campaign. Janet dedicates her effort to honest, hard-working Americans – “be they in the White House or the house next door” – in hopes the music and lyric serve as a source of pride and inspiration. “Whenever our country has faced challenge or adversity, music has always been the great communicator,” says Ms. Planet. “This is an important time in our nation’s history. My hope is to take listeners to a place where they remember the goodness in people, our commitment to community, the beauty of our land, and a love for the place we call home.”

Collectively, these songs take the listener on a cross-country journey – from the villages of Cape Cod to the canyons of Wyoming; New York to New Orleans; from copper mines in Arizona to the streets of San Francisco. It’s an American story in quintessential American form. “These are songs about places and people… songs about coming home and falling in love… songs about change,” Ms. Planet explains.
