BALLET INSTRUCTORS 2012/2013 MARION CHAEFF, DIRECTOR received her professional training at American Ballet Theatre in New York under world renowned teachers: Alexandra Danilova, Igor Schwezoff, Anatole Vilzak, Ludmilla Schollar, Yurek Lazovsky and Valentina Pereyaslavec. She received her teacher's training in Vienna, Austria and is accredited to teach the Bolshoi School (Moscow Choreographic School) syllabus. After dancing professionally, she directed her own School and company in Oakland, New Jersey for 9 years and currently is Artistic Director of San Jose Ballet Association, a non-profit performing organization. RIMA CHAEFF, DIRECTOR began her studies with her mother and was later a government sponsored scholarship student in Vienna, Austria for 3 years studying with Irina Borovska-Musil. She has studied with Rosella Hightower in Cannes, Zurich Opera Ballet, Saile Academy in Sydney, Australia, Boston Ballet and in New York with Sulamith Messerer, David Howard and the Joffrey School. She completed 3 years in the professional division of San Francisco Ballet School and danced in their Nutcracker and Showcase performances. She appeared as soloist with San Jose Dance Theatre and toured Europe with Ballet San Jose as Principal dancer. She is presently dancing with Pacific Ballet Theatre. She has created original roles with choreographers Lawrence Pech, Audrey King and Harold Lang and danced the roles of Giselle, Odette in Swan Lake, Nikiya in La Bayadere, and leading roles in Les Sylphides and Paquita. BRIANNE ACKROYD danced professionally for 7 years in companies in West Germany and toured in France and Sweden. She holds a teaching degree in Ballet and Character Dance from the Hanover University of Music and Theatre and is a member of R.A.D., London. -

Ginger Thatcher and Phillip Broomhead Set for Faculty at Goh Ballet Academy's Summer Program in Vancouver, 7/7-8/9 GINGER THATCHER, former principal dancer of the Cleveland Ballet and former soloist of the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, and PHILLIP BROOMHEAD, former principal dancer of the Royal Ballet and the Houston Ballet, will members of the faculty for the Goh Ballet Academy's Summer Program in Vancouver, Canada from July 7-August 9, 2014. GINGER THATCHER began her professional dance career as an apprentice with the Houston Ballet. She later joined the Cincinnati Ballet and in 1981 joined the Cleveland Ballet, rising to the rank of principal dancer. Ms. Thatcher's repertoire with the Cleveland Ballet included principal roles in ballets by George Balanchine (Agon, Concerto Barocco, The Four Temperaments, Serenade, Theme and Variations), Dennis Nahat (Brahms Quintet, Cannonade, Celebration and Ode, Contra Concerti, In Concert, In Studio D, Ontongeny, Pas de Dix, Quicksilver, Slavonic and Hungarian Dances, Some Times, Summerscape, Wu T'ai Shih), Murray Louis (By George), Daniel Levans (Concert Waltzes), Louis Falco (Escargot), Leonide Massine (Gaite Parisienne), David Lichine (Graduation Ball), Kurt Joos (The Green Table), Antony Tudor (Lilac Garden), Ian Horvath (Ozone Hour, Piano Man), Agnes de Mille (Rodeo, Three Virgins And A Devil), and Jose Limon (The Moor's Pavane, There Is A Time). Ms. Thatcher has also received acclaim for her performances in classical pieces such as Don Quixote Pas de Deux, The Nutcracker, Bluebird Pas de Deux, and the Prelude in Fokine's Les Sylphides. From 1991-93 Ms. Thatcher danced with the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company and danced roles in American Gesture, Concerto 622, Symphonie Concertante, and Waiting For The Sunshine. -

Biographical Memoirs, VOLUME 84 PUBLISHED 2004 BY THE NATIONAL ACADEMIES PRESS WASHINGTON, D.C. WILLIAM REDINGTON HEWLETT May 20, 1913–January 12, 2001 BY ROBERT J. SCULLY AND MARLAN O. SCULLY ILLIAM REDINGTON HEWLETT passed away on January 12, W2001, endowing that day with a national significance. The Silicon Valley miracle was in large part fostered by William Hewlett and David Packard. Indeed, the ideas and ideals of the Hewlett-Packard Corporation set a high stan- dard for the industry. During his life Hewlett was recog- nized by his profession, his country, and his peers as the hero that he was. He was president of the (now) Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers in 1954 and was elected to membership in the National Academy of Engineering in 1965 and the National Academy of Sciences in 1977. Presi- dent Reagan awarded him the National Medal of Science in 1983, and he was awarded the prestigious “Degree of Un- common Man” by Stanford University in 1987. Hewlett-Packard was and is a testament to the success of the free enterprise system and the American dream. The simple, honorable ideals and intensely productive practices they employed propelled a business started in a garage during the Depression to stardom. William and his lifelong friend and partner, David Packard, owned and ran a unique com- pany dedicated to the premise that profits were based on the well-being of its most important assets: its employees. -

Hereafter, the Foundation will publish an Annual Report which will be designed to provide prospective grantees, or anyone else with an interest in the Foundation, with appropriate information about the year's activities in some detail. We will endeavor to make the Report available to all those to whom it might be of interest. As the Foundation moves into its second decade, it is anticipated that assets will increase substantially, resulting in a sharply increased pay-out for philanthropic purposes. -
