De H.F. Fullager. -La ilustración que la acompaña está vista desde otro án- gulo viendo más perfectamente los embielajes cruzados -oblicuos-, los pistones dobles y el cigüeñal, siendo aquí más comprensible el principio de éste motor. FUN-ALU.- Alemania. El motor 125 de 16’5 CV se ha utilizado en el Parasport, un parapente motorizado. FUNCK.- USA. La Funck Rotary hizo un pequeño motor radial de dos tiempos con soplado por otros cilindros de piston como vemos en las siguientes ilustraciones. No falto de cierta complejidad. “Funck rotativo” -Del Apendice 9: Localizada otra variante de éste motor radial especial, quizá con más detalle ahora. -Tiene más detalle sobre las bielas, por cierto muy cortas, el cilindro posee en la culata un contrapistón con orifi cio para la bujía. -Pero llama la intención unos conductos que unen las bases de los cilindros para propagación del encendido. -Parece ser que las camisas intermedias son rotatorias. En el texto principal ya se comenta que es un motor complejo y vale la pena buscar más información. “Nueva imagen del antiguo Funck” * * * BCN, Ciudad del Motor -El David de postguerra era utilitario y con ánimo de reducir costos, se comen- taba que “no era un coche con una rueda menos sinó una moto con una rueda más”. El motor Fury Axial Engine era un motor barril con cinco cilindros alrededor del eje, con “cigüeñal” del tipo Z. -Refrigerado por aire, ofrecemos una vista frontal en que vemos las cabezas de cilindros y sus bujias. -Tambien una vista posterior en la que apreciamos la especie de crucera de cinco brazos, una para cada biela y por lo tanto del tipo oscilante. La potencia era de 70 HP. “Fury axial, vista posterior” -La construcción la efectuó The Aero Syndicate Ltd. en el año 1939. FUSCALDO. - Italia. En el Salón de Milan presentó un motor barrilete de 3 cilindros con doble pistón y un complicado mecanismo de interconexión de pistones por engranajes cónicos, ejes de transmisión, etc. “Fuscaldo-barrilete” “Fury axial, vista frontal” * * * Cajas de engrase -Las cajas de engrase -con y sin bomba de presión- fueron comunes en las máquinas y motores de los primeros tiempos. Otro motor y cuya fotografi a aparece en dicho texto es el radial de 7 cilindros. -Hubo otro de 5 cilindros y 65 CV a 2000 rpm. -El cuarto motor de Fuscaldo era un 9 cilindros radial, enfriado por aire también. Con 120 CV a 2000 rpm. -Se trata de un siete cilindros mostrado en 1927. -Con turbosobrealimentador y paso variable, incluso re- versible. Con 98 CV a 2000 rpm. “Fuscaldo de 90/97 CV” “Fuscaldo de 7 cilindros” “Fuscaldo de 90/97 CV” -Era un motor en estrella de siete cilindros con medidas interiores de cilindro de 90 x 120 mm. * * * BCN, Ciudad del Motor -El “Delfi n” fué otro vehículo de reparto construído en Barcelona, con motores Hispano-Villiers, de 197 cc y 125 cc, para 250 Kgs de carga. -Se supone que también hubo cochecitos y con la misma marca se conocen motocicle- tas. Pero la construcción se encargó a la SA Motori-Marini Carraro. -Presentado en la Feria de Muestras de Milan en 1935. Allí aparecia como “Motore Carraro-Fuscaldo de la Caproni”. -El autor no ha encontrrado relación con Caproni, salvo que fuera instalado en un avión Caproni para pruebas. -Con tres cilindros y pistones de doble efecto, enfriados por aire, del tipo revólver y 2T. “Motor Fuscaldo de tres cilindros en erstrella” -Del anexo 18. Nueva ilustración que puede ayudar a conocer mejor ésta máquina. “Fuscaldo-Carraro-IF” (PeT=LBC) -Del anexo 17. Localizado un motor Fuscaldo de tres cilindros radiales, obviado en el texto principal. Por su desconocimiento. Claramente los cilindros son semjantes “El Fuscaldo, por delante y por detrás” (PeT-Flu) a los de 7 cilindros, etc. * * * Equivalencias -Ya se dió la equivalencia de 75 Kgm/s para el Caballo de Vapor. Afi nando se dirá que 1 CV “fuerza” es igual a 75’9 Kgm/s ó 1’012 CV. Rempel NUMBER OF PAGES: x,320 11 ABSTRACT During World War One, the Clydeside region became one ofthe most important centres ofwar production in Britain. It also had one ofthe most volatile male workforces, earning it the reputation 'Red' Clydeside. Previous historical accounts have focussed on the skilled workers, debating the extent to which they were red-hot revolutionaries or narrow craft conservatives. To date, there has been no study ofthe region's large, capable, hard-working female workforce. This thesis traces the experience ofthe tens ofthousands ofwomen employed in the Clydeside munitions industry, paying particular attention to the working conditions in local factories. This thesis contributes to the long-standing historiographical arguments over the nature ofRed Clydeside by offering a new view ofthe dilution crisis which stands 11t the epicentre ofthe debate. It finds more cooperation between male and female munitions workers than has previously been recognized, and suggests that class confrontation, not craft conservatism, was at the root ofthe deportation ofthe shop steward leaders in March 1916.

It reviews and assesses current state-of-the-art design practices, and from them establishes firm guidance for achieving greater consistency in design, increased reliability in the end product, and greater efficiency in the design effort for conventional missions. The monograph is organized into three major sections that are preceded by a brief introduction and complemented by a set of references. The State of the Art, Section 2, reviews and discusses the total design problem, and identifies which1 design elements are involved in successful design. It describes succinctly the current tech- nology pertaining to these elements. When detailed information is required, the best available references are cited. This section serves as a survey of the subject that provides background material and prepares a proper technological base for the Design Criteria and Recommended Practices. The Design Criteria, shown in Section 3, state clearly and briefly what rule, guide, limitation, or standard must be considered for each essential design element to ensure successful design. The Design Criteria can serve effectively as a checklist of rules for the project manager to use in guiding a design or in assessing its adequacy. The Recommended Practices, as shown in Section 4, state how to satisfy each of the criteria.

These analysis and assessment tools are applied to a four-cylinder, spark ignition, naturally aspirated and air-cooled piston-prop aircraft engine in the landing and takeoff (LTO) phases of flight operations. LTO consists of four parts: takeoff, climb out, approach, and taxi. The results of energy analysis indicate that takeoff is a phase requiring high power with a maximum work rate of 111.90 kW. Maximum fuel energy and exergy rates are calculated to be 444.30 kW and 476.51 kW, respectively. The minimum total loss is found in the taxi phase, while maximum energy and exergy efficiency values are 26.76% and 24.95% in the climb out phase, respectively. Based on the results of the cost analysis, the taxi has the maximum exergy destruction cost rate with 23.41 $/h at a fixed production and 2.96 $/h at a fixed fuel.
