Wine-growing district and industry base, established universities and state-of-the art research laboratories, regional identity and international diversity are to be found here side by side – the region draws its strength from its contrasts. As one of the most dynamic cultural and business areas in , the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region attracts more than seven million national and international congress attendees every year. Around 200 event and conference venues, 30 of which are congress centres, have experience in hosting business events, and the 1,128 hotels in the area have well over 58,000 beds available. The region‘s three biggest cities alone boast around 13,000 beds for visitors. The balmy climate allows figs to grow, almond trees to blossom and grapes to ripen on the banks of the Rhine. And there are no fewer than 140 castles and palaces, as well as 214 museums to discover. Not to mention the wide range of cultural events. Another advantage is the close proximity and excellent infrastructure – International Airport is just 30 minutes away, and can be reached in just three hours. In short, the area offers perfect conditions for living, working, meeting and celebrating. The Convention Bureau for the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region (spanning the three federal states of -Württemberg, -Palatinate and Hessen) was established in August 2008 as one of the first regionally focussed MICE organisations with blanket coverage. As a non-profit organisation, the Convention Bureau provides support and advice for anyone planning national and international conferences, congresses, exhibitions and initiatives.
