Midnight Rider - the Allman Brothers Band Midnight Rider - The Allman Brothers Band Tempo: 95 BPM Strumming Pattern: DDD, DU, UD, DUD Note: Original song is in drop d (D, A, D, G, B, D) but it isn’t necessary. (first x indicates downstroke mute. Last two x’s indicate DU mute) Chords Used: D: xx0232 Gm7: 35333 Am7: 57555 Note: You will see on the video that I am playing a D Major, but I’m opening up the strings on the second frets of the G, B, and High E strings. This is optional. I only did this to provide a bit of a riff placement for you. If you have two guitarists one of these guitars should be playing the backing riff while the other plays the D chord. Intro Riff: --------------| --------------| --------------| -----0-0---0--| -0h3-----3----| --------------| This is SUPER easy to play. Intro: Play the riff or just play a D Major. D I got to run to keep from hiding And I'm bound to keep on riding And I've got one more silver dollar Gm7 But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no Am7 D Not gonna let them catch the midnight rider (Riff or just D) D I don't own the clothes I'm wearing And the road goes on forever And I've got one more silver dollar Gm7 But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no Am7 D Not gonna let them catch the midnight rider (Riff or just D) BRIDGE: Am7 – Gm7 (x3) then build the Gm7 chord to the next verse. (Riff or just D) D I've gone past the point of caring Some old bed I'll soon be sharing And I've got one more silver dollar Gm7 But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no Am7 D Not gonna let them catch the midnight rider (Riff or just D) Gm7 But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no Am7 D Not gonna let them catch the midnight rider Gm7 But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no Am7 D Not gonna let them catch the midnight rider (repeat above as desired and end on D) .

Juli 2013 remastert auf CD und Vinyl By the time they released their fifth album Brothers And Sisters in August 1973, the Allman Brothers Band had experienced dizzying highs and soul-crushing lows. The group had spent its first two years developing its formidable collective chemistry into an unprecedented stylistic fusion that established it as the era’s most influential American rock act. But just as the band had achieved a hard-won commercial breakthrough with 1971’s At Fillmore East, it suffered a devastating loss with the death of Duane Allman, its founder, leader and musical visionary, in a motorcycle crash on October 29, 1971. Following Duane’s traumatic passing, the band regained its bearings and soldiered on, with Duane’s brother, singer/organist Gregg Allman, and guitarist/vocalist Dickey Betts—now the lone axeman in an act famous for its dual-guitar fireworks—assuming more prominent roles in its direction. The musicians marshaled their strengths to make Brothers and Sisters—their first album recorded completely without Duane—a decisive creative rebirth as well as their best-selling release to date. Brothers And Sisters bested the sales of At Fillmore East and Eat A Peach, spending five weeks at #1 and becoming the first Allman Brothers Band release to gain Platinum sales status. Configurations Vinyl - Brothers And Sisters original recording remastered. CD - Brothers And Sisters original recording remastered.

WHEREAS, in 1969, a group of young but already seasoned and demonstrably and incredibly talented musicians, including guitarist Duane Allman, bassist Berry Oakley, vocalist and organist Gregg Allman, guitarist Dickey Betts, percussionist Butch Trucks, and percussionist Jaimoe, formed the Allman Brothers Band and established the band's home in Macon in April of that year; and WHEREAS, at now legendary jam sessions at their initial base on College Street, their later home at the "Big House" on Vineville Avenue, and other locations in and around Macon, including Rose Hill Cemetery and a farm known as Idlewild South, the band fused elements of blues, jazz, rock, and country music to create a musical genre now known and loved as "southern rock" and became one of the most exciting groups of performers ever to take the stage; and WHEREAS, the band members' talents and tour de force marathon performances across the nation not only received critical acclaim and awed their peers among musical greats but also served to inspire countless others and made Macon a musical mecca; and WHEREAS, Duane Allman's all too brief life was tragically ended at age 24 by a motorcycle accident on a street in Macon on October 29, 1971, and Berry Oakley suffered a similar fate at the same age and at almost the same location a year later on November 11, 1972; WHEREAS although their presence is sadly missed, these musicians' incomparable

“The Allman Brothers Band at Fillmore East”-- The Allman Brothers Band (1971) Added to the National Registry: 2004 Essay by Alan Paul (guest post)* Ori Album cover Original label Duane Allman The Allman Brothers Band’s double album, “At Fillmore East,” is often and rightly proclaimed as rock’s greatest live release. It still sounds completely fresh, totally inspired, and utterly original. It is the gold standard of blues-based rock and roll. But, after almost 45 years of such praise, it’s easy to lose sight of what a radical album “At Fillmore East” really was. It took a lot of guts for the band and their record label to release a two-LP live album as their third release. After all, when it came out in October 1971, the band was something of a commercial flop. Though drawing raves for their marathon live shows that combined the Grateful Dead’s go-anywhere jam ethos with a far superior musical precision, their first two releases still had caused barely a ripple in the marketplace. The band’s self-titled 1969 debut sold less than 35,000 copies and the following year’s “Idlewild South” did only marginally better despite two singles, “Midnight Rider” and “Revival.” The lackluster sales didn’t reflect the increasingly large and rabid crowds the Allman Brothers were drawing on their relentlessly paced tours. Crowds loved the band’s rare combination of blues, jazz, rock and country and their willingness to play until somebody pulled the plug. Finally, it dawned on the band and its management that a live album was the only way to capture the band’s real essence.
