Constituency Activity

It is a privilege to represent the Talybolion Ward in the County Council. It has been a very busy period since last May settling into my role as a County Councillor. I have received a number of phone calls and e-mails in relation to a range of problems and concerns and I have done my best to deal with these effectively. I have also opened a Facebook page as a Councillor which is another point of contact for the residents of Talybolion.

I attend Councils in Cylch y Garn, and Llanfwrog, , , , and Llannerch-y-medd. I am also a member of the Governing Bodies of Llanfechell and Bodedern Primary Schools.

Initiatives & Special Activities

I have been chosen as Carers Champion. This has been a very educational role for me, I have been fortunate enough to meet with a number of carers here on Anglesey. Affording status to carers here on Anglesey is very important and we must do our best to enable these fantastic people to continue with their work of caring for their family, friends and neighbours without any recompense. This is an opportunity for me to thank them for their enormous contribution.

I am collaborating with the RVS to set up a ‘paned club’ in Bodedern in the hope that we can then move on to another village, this is a social club where people can have a chat and a cup of tea/coffee.

Learning & Development

I have attended the following learning and development initiatives during the past year: (Information supplied by the IOACC) An Introduction to Members Support May 2013 Ethical Framework May 2013 The Welsh Language / Data Protection / Press and Media May 2013 Training on the Register of Interests May 2013 An Overview of Scrutiny Functions June 2013 Corporate Planning Meeting June 2013 Making More of a Difference in Scrutiny June 2013 Equality Awareness Training September 2013 Training for the Shadow Executive Committee September 2013 Training on Personal Development Reviews October 2013 Scrutinising the Budget October 2013 PINS Training November 2013 A General Introduction to Planning December 2013

Other Activities & Issues

I had the privilege of being invited to a sports evening in Llanfairynghornwy, a fabulous social evening with people of all ages participating.

I also attended Mechell Fair during the Summer where a number of competitions were held and it was good to see my fellow Councillor Ken Hughes participating in the vegetables competition.
