Edmonton... Highway construction work is set to roll out across northern Alberta, providing the roads and public infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing economy and population.

“Investing in highways supports jobs today, lays the foundation for future economic growth and supports our communities,” said Luke Ouellette, Minister of Transportation. “We will continue to build and take advantage of lower construction prices.” Major highway projects in northern Alberta include: Drayton Valley - Bridge replacement Fort McMurray - continuing Bridge construction Fort McMurray - continuing Thickwood Blvd. and Confederation Way interchange construction - continuing Highway 43X bypass from Highway 43 to 116 Street Garden River Road (future Highway 58) near Highway 43 twinning from Wembley to east of Highway 58 widening west of Highway Level Highway 63 to Fort McMurray - twinning north of In 2010, the Alberta government will invest $1.9 billion in the provincial highway network.
