Seeing in Infrared

The magic of Infrared photography is in the contrast of lights and darks, as well as the frequently soft, surreal effects. Deciduous leaves, grasses, generally water plants — any elements in nature that emit infrared radiation — will capture as white. When composing your image, pay Seeing in Infrared attention to the flow and interaction of the lights, darks and values. Conifers, rocks, dirt, tree trunks, buildings, water, blue sky — any elements not emitting warmth — capture as darks. Learn to see the differences and compose with these characteristics in mind.
