Ruh ad-din, I,1 Le Centre Suprême dans les enseignements de Shirdi Sai Baba Patricia Reynaud Renaud Fabbri La traduction anglaise de cet article a été publiée dans Sophia 10,1. Cet article propose quelques aperçus sur la figure de Shirdi Sai Baba (1838-1918) à la lumière des enseignements de la Tradition et de l’ésotérisme islamique. Il ne prétend pas épuiser la figure du saint de Shirdi mais apporter une contribution originale à l’étude de ce personnage aussi populaire qu’énigmatique qui continue d’exercer une influence spirituelle par-delà sa mort corporelle. Ce travail nous semble d’autant plus nécessaire que depuis la mort de ce maître une grande confusion règne autour de son héritage – en raison des multiples revendications dont il a fait l’objet notamment de la part des disciples de Sathya Sai Baba et de Meher Baba à propos desquels nous n’entendons rentrer ici dans aucune polémique. Disons simplement que nous nous abstiendrons la plupart du temps de toute référence à eux sauf lorsque le contexte l’exige et nous nous focaliserons sur la figure rayonnante mais aussi très mystérieuse du Saint de Shirdi qui avec Ramakrishna et Ramana Maharshi, mais dans un style très différent, a contribué au rayonnement de la Tradition dans l’Inde contemporaine. Ce travail est motivé aussi par la parution de la traduction en anglais des notes d’Abdul, un disciple musulman de Sai Baba1 qui jette un nouvel éclairage sur un possible rapport entre Sai Baba et celui que Guénon appelle le « Roi du Monde »2. -

The 21 Century New Muslim Generation Converts in Britain And
The 21st Century New Muslim Generation Converts in Britain and Germany Submitted by Caroline Neumueller to the University of Exeter as a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Arab and Islamic Studies October 2012 1 2 Abstract The dissertation focuses on the conversion experiences and individual processes of twenty-four native British Muslim converts and fifty-two native German Muslim converts, based on personal interviews and completed questionnaires between 2008 and 2010. It analyses the occurring similarities and differences among British and German Muslim converts, and puts them into relation to basic Islamic requirements of the individual, and in the context of their respective social settings. Accordingly, the primary focus is placed on the changing behavioural norms in the individual process of religious conversion concerning family and mixed-gender relations and the converts’ attitudes towards particularly often sensitive and controversial topics. My empirical research on this phenomenon was guided by many research questions, such as: What has provoked the participants to convert to Islam, and what impact and influence does their conversion have on their (former and primarily) non-Muslim environment? Do Muslim converts tend to distance themselves from their former lifestyles and change their social behavioural patterns, and are the objectives and purposes that they see themselves having in the given society directed to them being: bridge-builders or isolators? The topic of conversion to Islam, particularly within Western non-Muslim societies is a growing research phenomenon. At the same time, there has only been little contribution to the literature that deals with comparative analyses of Muslim converts in different countries. -

It is common to observe discrepancies in the fatawi of Ijtihad, Usuli, Akhbari, Mahammad the jurists and the present study is an attempt to compare the theories of two Usuli and Amin Astarabadi, Vahid Behbahani Akhbari scholars namely Vahid Behbahani and Muhammad Amin Astrabadi regarding Ijtihad. Muhammad Amin Astarabadi is the most prominent of the Akhbaris. They are referred to as a group drawing upon the holy imams' sunnah in deducting Islamic rules and unlike Usulis who refer to four sources of the holy book, sunnah, ijma', and reasoning, they believe that reasoning and ijma are not enough and that many reason- based principles used in Usul-al- Fiqh for deducting laws are invalid and the only way to achieve Islamic laws is to refer to the holy imam's hadith. -

La Littérature Aux Marges Du ʾadab
LA LITTÉRATURE AUX MARGES DU ʾADAB Sous la direction de Iyas Hassan La notion de ʾadab est très importante dès lors qu’on aborde le monde arabe dans sa période dite classique. Le terme est généralement traduit par « littérature », mais à l’origine il recouvre un sens plus large, davantage lié à un savoir-être courtois et urbain, LA LITTÉRATURE comprenant notamment la maîtrise de la prose par des auteurs AUX MARGES DU ʾADAB qui furent en premier lieu de hauts fonctionnaires œuvrant aussi bien à l’administration qu’aux domaines juridiques et religieux. Regards croisés sur la prose arabe classique C’est principalement leurs écrits narratifs ou ceux renvoyant à la morale et à l’éthique que la tradition académique a retenus comme étant le noyau dur à partir duquel se sont développés les canons du ʾadab. Mais qu’en est-il de la riche production qui existe en dehors de ces domaines ? ADAB ʾ Le présent ouvrage s’inscrit dans une nouvelle orientation des études arabes visant à redessiner les frontières du littéraire dans le domaine des sources arabes. Le parti pris est ainsi de s’intéresser DU aux écrits classiques dont on considère, à tort ou à raison, qu’ils ne relèvent pas de ce registre. Neuf contributions issues des études littéraires, islamologiques et historiques sont rassemblées ici afin de permettre à des textes, pourtant différents par leur nature, leur genre ou leurs origines intellectuelles, d’entrer en interaction, MARGES ITTERATURE révélant ainsi des territoires dont l’approche par des outils littéraires L est encore rare, voire inédite. -

Accepted 01 July, 2013 Among the Digo of Kenya the belief and fear of sorcery is most prevalent that many things are explained in relation with it. Over the years, major sorcery-detection and eradication ‘crusades’ conducted by individuals alleging to be endowed with supernatural powers to detect and neutralize purported sorcerers have been witnessed among the Digo. During the eradication ‘crusades’ a considerable amount of money is collected to pay for the services of the presumed experts, indicating how serious the problem is regarded in Digo region. Islam is the religion of majority of the Digo, which has influenced their thinking and world-view, and has specific teachings on the practice of sorcery. Despite substantial influence of Islam on the Digo, the people continue to belief and practice sorcery leading to the development of popular religious therapy. This article will demonstrate that popular Islamic rituals and talismans have been adopted by the Digo to assist the traditional healers in countering the forces of sorcery as a means to restoring health to individuals and the general well- being of society. In exploring the practice of sorcery as experienced by the Digo, this article demonstrates how the traditional techniques of countering sorcery are rooted in the indigenous belief system of the Digo. -
