    RICK KAVANIAN Biografie www.rick-kavanian.de Rick Kavanian, am 26. Januar 1971 in München geboren, studierte von 1990-1994 Politikwissenschaften, Nordamerikanische Kulturgeschichte und Psychologie. 1990 begann die Zusammenarbeit mit Michael Bully Herbig als Autor und vor dem Mikrofon für die Münchner Kult-Radio-Show Langemann und die Morgencrew. 1995 studierte er ein Jahr am New Yorker Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. 1996 setzte er seine Zusammenarbeit mit Michael Bully Herbig in „Easy Bully" fort und arbeitete 1997 als Autor und Co-Moderator für die erste wöchentlich bundesweit ausgestrahlte Radioshow „Bullys Late Light Show". Im selben Jahr ging die erfolgreiche und beliebte Bullyparade auf Sendung, in der Rick Kavanian von Beginn an als Autor und Darsteller mitwirkte. FILM/TV Bei Bullys unglaublichem Kinoerfolg Der Schuh des Manituarbeitete Rick als Co-Autor am Drehbuch mit und übernahm die Rolle des Dimitri. Weitere Haupt- und Nebenrollen in unterschiedlichen Produktionen folgten:In der Kinoproduktion (T)Raumschiff Surprise – PERIODE 1übernahm Rick nicht nur drei Rollen, sondern war auch als Co-Autor am Drehbuch tätig. Des Weiteren war Rick u.a. in Til Schweigers Kinokomödien Keinohrhasenund 1½ Ritter – auf der Suche nach der hinreißenden Herzelindezu sehen. In Sebastian Niemanns Mord ist mein Geschäft, Liebling übernahm Rick die Hauptrolle des Auftragskillers Toni Ricadelli und für den Film Otto's Elevenspielteer den Kabeljau kochenden Koch Pit. Ricks Wandlungsfähigkeit kam auch im innovativen TV-Format Bully & Rick besonders zur Geltung. Die Sketchshow wurde 2004 erfolgreich auf ProSieben ausgestrahlt und 2005 mit dem Comedy-Preis ausgezeichnet. Weitere TV Produktionen folgten in mit der monatlichen Satire-Sendung "Die Klugscheisser". Rick war hier über 3 Jahre zusammen mit Bruno Jonas und Monika Gruber im BR und später auch in der ARD zu sehen.

    100 Years of Olympic Films, 1912-2012 Released by The International Olympic Committee and The Criterion Collection, 2017 by Cynthia Close Leni Riefenstahl’s Olympia made for the 1936 Olympiad held in Berlin is the first film that comes to mind when the topic of Olympic films is mentioned. For many of us, even for those most devout followers of Olympic competition throughout the years, Riefenstahl may be the only filmmaker we can name connected to what is arguably the longest running global event representing human athletic achievement. Even what we think we know about Olympia is only a fraction of that history. But thanks to the painstaking research that began with a conversation in 1996 at a bar in the Algonquin Hotel in Manhattan between archivist Adrian Wood and Stewart Binns, head of the Olympic Television Archive Bureau (OTAB), we now have this magnificent Criterion Collection, 100 years of Olympic Films, 1912 - 2012 to study and savor. The instigator and driver behind this gargantuan undertaking was Michael Payne, director of marketing for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) who in turn convinced IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch to allocate the resources to fund this project. It took a giant leap of faith since back in 1996 it was not known how many films were made or how many had survived since the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896. Although no cameras were present at those games, it was a precipitous launch for both the Olympics and the birth of film by the Lumières who showed their first films in Paris the year before and the following year the Edison Vitascope projector was presented to the public in the United States.
