I am very proud to be sponsoring the game today – not least because this marks a very signifi- cant birthday for me – and I could ask for no better way of celebrating, than by spending the day with family and friends at Grosvenor Vale. This season has already been a fairly dramatic one – and within just the first three months, we have already seen a number of significant highs and lows. One of the disappointing aspects for me, has been a lack of togetherness, at times, from the terraces. I think that we all need to remember that we are supporters – and so we should support the team. It seems to me that the players and the management are trying to get things right on the pitch; and despite some setbacks, I am sure that everyone from the Chairman to the fan behind the goal, wants the same thing – to see some good football and to get some good results. So let’s all get behind the boys, make some noise and cheer us on to victory. Come on you Stones! /margatefootballclub /margate_fc /margate_fc GATE TV www.margate-fc.com ONLINE EDITION #TimeForHeroes #TimeForHeroes Tuesday 3rd November 2020 MARGATE FC v EAST THURROCK UNITED FC Kick Off—7:45pm Welcome Good evening and welcome to Hartsdown Park for what is most likely going to be our last game for a few weeks due to the National Lockdown that starts on Thursday 5th November. Tonight, we welcome East Thurrock for a Pitching-In Isthmian Premier League game with both teams needing the 3 points to climb away from the bottom of the table. Our Visitors sit one point below us in 21st with 5 points from their first 9 games. We are coming off the back of a 4-2 away win against Aylesbury in the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy, with new signing Norman Wabo and Noel Leighton each scoring a brace for the Gate. Our reward is a home tie against Burgess Hill Town, with the date TBC as the FA consider the impact of the new national lockdown. The Club were also delighted to announce the signing of attacking midfielder Dominic Vose who joins Saunders from Kingstonian having previously played for Bromley, Whitehawk and Dulwich Hamlet. His registration was confirmed yesterday, and he is available for selection tonight. As we move into a unprecedented period for everyone we are awaiting further guidance from the Isthmian League and the FA as to what the schedule will look like for the remainder of the season. We hope to share this with you soon, but in the meantime let’s all get behind Jay and the players and enjoy the game tonight to the fullest, as it may be our last for a little while! #TimeForHeroes The Gate have a home draw in the next round of the FA Trophy.

  • Bromley (FA Trophy)
HARTLEY WINTNEY FC HISTORY Hartley Wintney Football Club History Hartley Wintney Football Club was founded in the North Hampshire village of Hartley Wintney in 1897 and played in an area adjacent to the village's golf and cricket clubs, the facilities not quite being up to today's standard, with only a horse trough or the pond to remove the heavy mud from a sub-standard pitch. The Club's nickname of 'The Row' comes from 'Hartley Row', a former hamlet within Hartley Wintney. In 1953, the club moved to its present ground in Green Lane, known as 'The Memorial Ground'. A pavilion was erected and the team played in the Basingstoke League and, later, in the Aldershot League. In 1973, an influx of players under new manager Glynn Howell put the club firmly on the local football map. In his six year reign, the team won the Aldershot Senior League three times in succession, and the Aldershot Senior Cup. After several seasons in the Aldershot Senior League, Hartley were admitted to the Combined Counties League (previously Surrey Senior League). After the first couple of seasons and two changes of management, the club appointed Ian Bedford, and once again an influx of senior players brought Hartley success. Within his three years in man- agement, they gained trophies including the League Title (1982-1983) and Runners Up (1981-1982), Aldershot Senior Cup Winners (1980-1981), and George Allen Cup Win- ners (1981-1982). They were also Runners Up in the League Cup (1982-1983) and Al- dershot Senior Cup (1981-1982).

I though ‘It’s not going to be bettered.’ ‘We’re not going to get anyway near it.’ ‘Clubs aren’t going to want to do it again.’ The harder thing to do would be to reimagine it as something completely different, bigger and better. Guess which route we took? The Hopper & Son Non-League Challenge Trophy was born long before the completion of our virtual FA Cup. One of the trickier parts to our original competition was the necessary omission of 100-200 Step 6 clubs due to the limited number of entrants that the FA Cup offers. Those that missed out included some of the fantastic clubs we’d visited in the past and, although they may never have know and, even if they did, they may not have cared, I felt bad.

  • DARTFORD 2 WELLING UNITED 2 Dartford Came From
DARTFORD 2 WELLING UNITED 2 Dartford came from two goals down to earn a point in the Kent Derby, as bottom-of-the-league Welling United arrived at Bericote Powerhouse Princes Park on a cold Saturday afternoon. As the current pandemic and lockdown continued to wreck havoc with football games across the country, both sides arrived determined to put the recently enforced suspension behind them. However, it was the visitors that rediscovered their form initially, while the Darts spluttered along, searching for second gear. That being said, however, it was the hosts who actually created the first opportunity, courtesy of the talented Nassim L'Ghoul. Unfortunately, the winger's long-range effort in the sixth minute failed to trouble goalkeeper Charles Cook. At the other end, Daniel Wilks would be called into action to save Lyle Della-Verde's strike with twelve minutes played. The visitors responded well to proceedings, as they looked to impress new manager Steve Lovell, and should have edged in front in the 15th minute. After pressing forward had forced a corner, Lewis Hobbs was able to jump high enough to reach the ball before everyone else, but his header flew well wide of Wilks' upright. With momentum on their side, the Wings seized the opportunity of the slow start from the hosts, and were allowed to get their noses in front in the 18th minute. The goal arrived after Jack Jebb had lost out in the midfield, which enabled the visitors to break along the Dartford left flank. Former Dart, Della-Verde, eventually received the ball before squeezing it beyond Wilks.
