Scottish Church Criteria for Admission to B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/BBA Honours Courses (Those who qualified in 2019 are preferred)

COLLEGE RULES

(1) Students are required to maintain regular attendance to be eligible for appearing in the University examination. They should follow the parameters as per new CBCS norms of the University of Calcutta.

EXTENSION ACTIVITIES Numerous extension activities are promoted to inculcate a sense of civic responsibility and community orientation. The College provides many activities all-round personality development of the students, training them in team-work, organization and leadership providing opportunities for developing their latent creative talents.

PLACEMENT CELL The College has a Placement Cell which looks after the placement and career guidance of the U.G. and P.G. students of the College. The Placement Cell is situated on the ground floor of the B. Ed Building.

MEDICAL FACILITIES ON campus medical facilities for the staff and students are available.

INTERNET FACILITIES Internet facility is available for the students of the college. Detailed information is available with the Librarian. Students have access to inflibnet.

(2) Science students who do not attend theoretical classes regularly shall not be permitted to attend practical classes.

(3) Students must wear and display visibly their Identity Cards during College hours inside the Campus. A student must produce Identity Card as and when demanded. It should be carefully preserved. In case of loss of Identity Card, a duplicate can be obtained only on permission by the Principal /the Vice-Principal and on payment of a fine of Rs. 70/- and preferably with a GD from the Police Station in this regard.

(4) A student has to clear the fees and dues within the notified date.

(5) Students are expected to treat the members of the staff and their fellow students with courtesy both in and out of the College. There must be no disorderly or offensive conduct at any time.

(6) Students must be in their classes and take their seats when the bell rings at the beginning of each period. They must not enter or leave the class room without permission.

(7) College property, furniture, library books etc. must be treated with due care.

(8) Rules for the conduct of examinations are placed on the Notice Board and must be strictly observed.

(9) Impersonation at roll call is punishable offence. The Principal/Vice-Principal has authority to impose fine or other appropriate punishment and in extreme cases may suspend or expel an offender.

(10) Students are required to check the Notice Board for any important notice/announcement before they leave the college every day.

(11) Students are expected to be formally and decently dressed while in the College.

(12) Use of tobacco products including smoking, chewing tobacco products, playing cards, spitting and loitering is strictly prohibited within the College and Hostel campuses and shall invite punishment.

(13) MOBILE PHONES are liable to be confiscated and/or a penalty of Rs.500/- will be imposed if used in places other than permitted areas within the College campus.

(14) A subject which is not taught in the College will not be permitted in the combination of subjects.

GENERAL INFORMATION HOSTELS For the accommodation of outstation students, the College has five hostels, viz. the Lady Jane Dundas Hostel (for girls), the Students’ Residence (for girls), the Duff Hostel, the Wann Hostel and the Ogilvie Hostel. The Lady Jane Dundas Hostel and Duff Hostel are primarily for Christian students.

LIBRARY The College has a large and well-equipped Library containing more than one lac books, journals and periodicals on various subject. This is complemented by the several departmental libraries serving specific needs of the Honours students. There is also a Book Bank from which students may borrow text books as well.

SCHOLARSHIPS AND PRIZES Several scholarships are given to the students by the College. Concession in fees and stipends are also granted to deserving candidates. Good academic performance is acknowledged with a large number of prizes every year.

RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION AND WORSHIP Classes on religious instruction are held as a regular part of the work of the College. Prayers are held daily in the College Hall at 09.30 a.m. before the commencement of the classes.

ATHELETICS The College has a spacious playground situated at Canal East Road intended for the students of the College and Collegiate School. Football, Cricket, Basket Ball, Volley Ball athletics and Kho- Kho are played and practised here. A Gymnasium with all modern facilities is available in the College Campus.

COLLEGE MAGAZINE The College magazine is published annually. Students and Staff are expected to contribute articles, paintings, photographic entries etc. to it.

STUDENTS’ ACTIVITY CLUBS Students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities by becoming members of the various clubs, viz. Nature Study and Photography club, Budding Painters’ Club, Debating Society, Literary Society, Western and Indian Music Club, Dance and Drama Club.

STUDENTS’ UNION The Student’s Union is the representative body of the students.
