Some businesses chose to stay closed and follow the recommendations of the authorities, while others remained open voluntarily but established a lot of measures to protect their customers and staff. The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin took the hard decision to put the safety of all its staff and guests first, and was closed for three months, but during that time, the team worked hard and took on the challenge of innovating and creating new concepts for dishes to provide to their guests once the epidemic was over. We spoke to Mr Radek Cais, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin and The Ritz-Carlton Executive Residences, Tianjin, on this month’s Business Tianjin issue, and got to know more about the man leading the great transformation that is now necessary to reinvent the high-end products and services of the hospitality industry of Tianjin. Mr Cais told us about local Baozi that is transformed into a luxurious, expertly-made delight, the selection of nutritious seasonal ingredients Recent Past Editons that make up the Eight Healthy Delights at their Chinese Restaurant, and the innovation at ZEST, where each culinary station is a cooking showcase creating visual experiences with freshly prepared dishes. The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin also offers an impressive Seafood Healthy Lunch with fresh seafood menus updated daily. And who better to inspect and verify the freshness of the seafood than our cover story man. Mr Radek Cais personally checks and confirms the quality of the outstanding products offered at each table. As you can see on the cover, he is an experienced fisherman, selecting the best seafood for guests. Nestled among majestic trees and a landscaped garden is another jewel of Tianjin, as many are about to discover. Tianjin residents who have been living in the city for a long time will remember many happy hours from yesteryear spent at the city’s first 5-Star hotel, Tianjin Yan Yuan International Hotel. Set in a secluded area away from the busy streets, it oozes tranquillity and elegance, and is emerging as a totally renovated establishment to carry on its tradition of luxury accommodation, superb meals and excellent service. The hotel has a few secrets up its sleeve, one being the newly landscaped garden complete with luscious green lawn, a wooden deck with comfortable outdoor seating, huge trees that shelter the garden from the heat and sun, and a children’s playground area. Villatoro Copyright © 2016 Hui Sun et al. This is an open access article distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. The construction of subways has an external impact on the urban environment. Among them, the most important acceleration function lies in the property values of housing near subway stations. Tianjin, the largest open coastal city in Northern China, is selected as the subject of the research in this paper by virtue of its unique background. The Hedonic Pricing Model is used in analysing the change in the value of the properties located within 1,000 metres of completed subway line 3 stations. Using the theories of land rent and land location, and a model of the impact of urban traffic on the surrounding real estate prices, we analyse the sphere of influence of Tianjin Metro Line 3 on real estate prices. Finally, the paper stresses the importance of urban construction and subway building and finds that different development strategies should be used according to the characteristics of the subway in various regions of the city.

The 18th International Planning History Society Conference - Yokohama, July 2018 Historical Analysis of Urban Public Transportation Development in Modern Tianjin (1902-1949) Yili Zhao*, Lin Feng**, Yanchen Sun***, Kun Song*** * PhD, Tianjin University, [email protected] ** Lecture, Tianjin University, [email protected] *** PhD, Tianjin University, [email protected] **** Professor, Tianjin University, [email protected] Tianjin was the earliest city opening urban public transport lines in China. Urban public transportation had profound impacts on urban construction and on the formation of urban structure in Tianjin from 1902 to 1949. Based on the background of urban development, this paper firstly divides the evolution process of public transportation represented by tramways and buses into three periods from the perspectives of the distribution, quantity and operation status of public transportation lines. It then analyses the strong influence of public transportation on urban roads construction from the view of the increased municipal income, road widening, improvement of pavement quality, and bridges construction and maintenance. Finally, by using qualitative and quantitative analysis and superposing the related statistical data with the historical map, it analyses the relationship among public transportation line density, land value partition and basic urban structure, and certifies they were highly relative. In conclusion, the paper argues that Tianjin urban public transport network was based on trams and supplemented by buses, and not only planning ideas but also advanced municipal technologies from the West like public transportation system were also indispensable supports in the process of urban modernization in Chinese modern treaty ports. Key words: Urban Public Transportation, Modern Tianjin, Tram, Roads Construction, Urban Structure Introduction The transformation of Chinese modern treaty ports was closely related to western planning ideas of the time.

  • Tianjin CITY SECURITY GUIDE CITY TRAVEL GUIDE
COUNTRY RISK FORECAST AND TRAVEL SECURITY ONLINE Tianjin CITY SECURITY GUIDE CRIME Tianjin has a relatively low crime rate, though petty crime remains a risk. Travellers are advised to be careful of pickpockets in crowded locations, including markets, city squares and transport hubs, such as the three train stations (main, north and west). SOCIAL UNREST Demonstrations over local issues, such as perceived official corruption, occur periodically. Additionally, crowds may gather spontaneously to vent their anger at perceived injustices, often sparked off by apparently minor incidents such as traffic accidents. Protests however typically occur in more isolated areas, are short-lived and swiftly contained by the police. TERRORISM The government considers separatist Uighur Muslims from the north-west Xinjiang province a threat to security and there have been claims of disrupted terrorist attacks outside the far north-west; most notably, the authorities in 2008 arrested several Uighurs in Xinjiang in connection with an alleged plot to carry out attacks at the Olympic Games in Beijing. The authorities have also linked an October 2013 car incident in Beijing and a March 2014 knife attack in Kunming railway station (Yunnan province) with Xinjiang- based Uighur militancy. If official claims are accurate, these incidents indicate that Uighur militants maintain the intent to conduct attacks outside Xinjiang. However, the security forces' tight surveillance makes it difficult for militant groups to operate beyond remote or stronghold areas. While crude, small-scale attacks by individuals in major cities can never be ruled out, the risk remains low. TROUBLE SPOTS The incidence of petty crime is higher around the main bus and train stations.
