This newsletter is specifically designed for members who are not considered in the support that the ODEPA will provideto the different Federations of America to help you plan your visit to Huauchinango, State of Puebla, Mexico to participate in the 2014 Pan American Championships Slalom and Slalom Pan American Sports Festival 2014. Citing that the participants in this event and which are included in the participantsshares assigned by country who was assigned by the OPEDA and COPAC , they will count with air plane ticket, lodging, food, local transport and transport from de Airport of – Huauchinango –Airport of Mexico City, for free by the ODEPA in coordination with government sports authorities of Mexico. Our main objective is to make a Championship and Festival at the height of the American Continent, that is our primary mission. But is also important that our athletes, coaches, judges, officials and guests have the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful town.We are pleased to offer attractive accommodation in hotels and invite them to explore what Mexico has to offer.

In this we have included a preliminary competition schedule, information to help with the arrival, the accreditation process, and more.

View of the City

The word Huauchinango, means in náhuatl place enclosed by trees and this town is the number 72 on its size in the state of Puebla. It is located in a natural area protected by a decree of President Lazaro Cardenas of 14938. Huauchinango is located north of the of the state of Puebla, is approximately 160 km2 of territory and borders the municipalities of , Zacatlán, Chiconcuatla, , Nuevo Necaxa, , , Pahuatlán yAcaxochitlan, in the state of , has a population of 110,000 inhabitants 65% of whom live in the county seat and the rest is distributed in its approximately 40 communities, most of which speak and few Otomi and Totonac. It is located 15 minutes drive from the city center of Huauchinango, by paved road.

It is an adaptation of natural riverbed, class III with a length of 250 meters, plus fifty meters at the top for warming and 50 at the bottom for cool down.

It is a continuous stream of current water with symmetrical movements, and two small islands. The estimated flow rate is between 15 and 18 m3 / sec. It is a natural river flow and can be regulated to provide flow or two dams to retain a moderate capacity in the headwaters.

The optimum time to use is from mid-June, coinciding with the start of the rainy season.

It is mostly accessible by both sides and allows the full course, has a suspension bridge in the middle.

A maximum of 3 athletes in each event will be nominated to represent their National Federation for the 2014 CSL Pan Am Championships and 2015 CSL Pan American Games qualifier.

This must be confirmed officially in the written form provided by the organizer latest at the Team Leaders meeting to be held July 10th at 17:30

Eligibility for the 2015 Pan American Games qualifier must be confirmed with the athlete’s passport (nationality proof ) when athletes are accredited .

Only eligible athletes will count for the 2015 Pan American Games CSL quota’s allocation

In order to clarify that the male quotas place in the COPAC letter include C1 or K1 men

For more information relating to the Pan American Sports Festival, National Federations must directly contact their National Olympic Committees as this is the only interlocutor with ODEPA.

As soon as you arrive to Huauchinango, all members of each delegation and its vehicles will be duly credited, with the same prerequisite for access to hotels and the race venue.

Price of each accreditation for all days: $600 (mexican pesos) It Includes:

The Organizing Committee is happy to announce that the 2014 Pan Am Championships will also be an ICF Rankings race.

• Each National Federation will be able to nominate 6 athletes per event. • All Federations can compete in the ICF Rankings competition. • You will need to register your athletes through the ICF Online Entries system. Awards for the 2014Sport Panam Festival and Pan American Championships will be in accordance with the COPAC Canoe Slalom rules. One medal per federation in each class.

ANTI-DOPING CONTROL:

In line with the World Anti-Doping Authority (WADA) and the ICF Anti-Doping rules, the organizing committee may conduct random testing at the competition.

MEDICAL SERVICES:

An ambulance and a first aid station will be at the race venue from the first day of official training through the end of the competition.
