We hope that you will enjoy this walk. Are you ready? Today, you will be divided into three groups and you won't be just tourists and visitors of Ljubljana, but also treasure hunters. You will have some questions on your phones. Some letters of the answers will give you “the treasure word”. This “treasure word” has two words ______ ________. Good luck and find the treasure in Ljubljana. 1. skupina predstavitev 2. skupina predstavitev 3. skupina predstavitev David Nejc Živa 2. NAVODILA ZA ŽIVALI BUT FIRST WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER COMPETITION, YOU CAN TAKE PICTURES, BUT PLEASE DO NOT USE THE APP “ACTION BOUND” YET: So, welcome also to the city of mythological creatures and other animals. During our walk to the castle of Ljubljana, you will also “meet” a lot of animals that are presented in different forms: sculptures, decorations, pictures and they are presented on different buildings or gates, posters or ads. You will have to look for all mythological animals (like dragons, snakes, unicorns,… ) and count them. At the end of our walk you will tell us how many mythological animals you have seen. If we are the group with the highest number of animals, we will win and get a big reward. 1. skupina predstavitev 2. skupina predstavitev 3. skupina predstavitev Pia Klara Einfalt Tibor 2.VZPENJAČA 3.pred vzpenjačo: pregled živali in NAGRADA Look around. LJUBLJANSKI GRAD (10.00 do 10.30…naprej do 12.35) ZGODOVINA GRADU: The castle of Ljubljana had many functions through history: it was a castle, a fortress, a prison and even a warehouse of gunpowder. Let's listen to a story about an explosion at the castle, lightning and the first official UFO in Ljubljana. How strange! The authorities turned the castle into a military warehouse. In the 17th century, the castle contained a powder warehouse. Its most common danger was lightning. Because lightning rods hadn’t been invented yet and the castle hill was exposed, lightning hit several times the warehouse where the gunpowder was. The lightning produced a spark and the spark produced a fire. It was so intense that the door of the warehouse exploded and flew across the hill. The bang on the castle hill was so loud that it cracked many windows and houses and the door of the powder warehouse was found in Ježica, four kilometres away due north. This was the first UFO, unidentified flying object that was found in Ljubljana. 1. skupina 2. skupina 3. skupina LJ GRAD David Nejc Gregor ZGODOVINA - predstavitev IGRA RUN AND Eva Liza / DON'T FALL – RUNNING GAME IGRA FREE David / / YOURSELF – GROUP GAME 1. The Dragon Bridge replaced an old bridge which was damaged by an earthquake in 1895. There is a legend that Jason was the founder of Ljubljana, and he and his Argonauts killed a dragon. This is one of the four dragon statues in the bridge. 1. skupina predstavitev 2. skupina predstavitev 3. skupina predstavitev Eva Klara Einfalt Tina 6. MOST s KLJUČAVNICAMI Mesarski most: Before, you could admire differents types of fruit at the market. Now I will tell you something more about the market: The Ljubljana Central Market was designed by Jože Plečnik in 1931–39. The design of the complex reflects Renaissance influences. The market is open daily except Sundays. It has a flower market at the junction of Pogačar Square and Vodnik Square, a fish market and dried fruit on the lower level of the market hall and bakery, dairy and meat stalls on both levels. The colonnade at the Triple Bridge end provides shelter for stalls selling herbs, spices, and arts and crafts. 1. skupina 2. skupina 3. skupina predstavitev Rok Klara M. It is a major meeting point, where festivals, Ljubljana carnival, concerts, sports events take place. The square is named after France Prešeren who was a 19th-century Romantic Slovene poet, best known as the poet who has inspired virtually all later Slovene literature. His poem Zdravljica is also the national anthem of Slovenia. Look at him. He is pointing with this finger towards a window and the street where a woman lived in this building. That woman was Julija. He was in love with her and for many years she was the inspiration for his love poems. From this point you can see the three architectural styles that have marked Ljubljana: the style of Plečnik (the three bridges in front of you). The so called Triple Bridge is a group of three bridges across the Ljubljanica River. It connects the Ljubljana's old town on one bank, and the modern city of Ljubljana, capital of Slovenia, on the other bank. The other architerctural style is the style of Secession ( you can see the shooping centre Emporium on the opposite side), and the Baroque (if you look around, you can see the red church). 1. skupina predstavitev 2. skupina predstavitev 3. skupina predstavitev Eva Klara E. The library building is the most monumental of Plečnik's works in Slovenia. • Plečnik's Bridges in Ljubljana
6722564 Plečnik's Bridges in Ljubljana Ana Porok Curator of Architecture and Design / Plečnik House, Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana, 1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia Abstract The Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik (1872–1957) left a significant mark on three European capital cities: Vienna, Prague, and especially his native city of Ljubljana. He worked there from 1921 until his death and largely realised his vision of a city transformed into the national capital based on Classical models. Thanks to Plečnik’s work, the capital city of Slovenia as a whole is a work of art in terms of urban planning and architecture. It is one of the few cities that have been so profoundly marked by a single architect. Plečnik’s Ljubljana features a land axis and a water axis. The land axis runs from his own house in Trnovo across Trnovo Bridge, along Emonska Street and Vegova Street to the city centre with Congress Square and Zvezda Park. Plečnik’s plans for the water axis encompassed designs for the Ljubljanica River embankments at Trnovski pristan, the Gradaščica River outflow, the Ljubljanica embankments in the city centre and designs for Cobblers’ Bridge, Triple Bridge, the main market with unrealised Butchers' Bridge and the river banks down to Ljubljanica Lock Gate. Wherever possible, Plečnik built bridges so as to connect the medieval city at the foot of the Castle Hill with the well-arranged squares on the left bank, and to open views towards the river. He also often respectfully preserved old architecture and incorporated it into a new composition. By re-designing river banks and bridges, and thoughtfully placing plantings intended as important architectural features, Plečnik gave a Mediterranean flavour to the city alongside the Ljubljanica River.

Technical fields were joint in the School of Engineering that included the Geologic and Mining Division while the Metallurgy Division was established in 1939 only. Today the Departments of Geology, Mining and Geotechnology, Materials and Metallurgy are part of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, University of Ljubljana. Before War II the members of the Mining Section together with the Association of Yugoslav Mining and Metallurgy Engineers began to publish the summaries of their research and studies in their technical periodical Rudarski zbornik (Mining Proceed- ings). Three volumes of Rudarski zbornik (1937, 1938 and 1939) were published. The War interrupted the publication and not until 1952 the first number of the new journal Rudarsko-metalurški zbornik - RMZ (Mining and Metallurgy Quarterly) has been pub- lished by the Division of Mining and Metallurgy, University of Ljubljana. Later the journal has been regularly published quarterly by the Departments of Geology, Mining and Geotechnology, Materials and Metallurgy, and the Institute for Mining, Geotech- nology and Environment. On the meeting of the Advisory and the Editorial Board on May 22nd 1998 Rudarsko- metalurški zbornik has been renamed into “RMZ - Materials and Geoenvironment (RMZ -Materiali in Geookolje)” or shortly RMZ - M&G. Šolski novinarji smo poizvedeli, kaj si o tej prepovedi mislijo ravnateljica, učenci in učitelji. Med ledinci imamo tudi nadarjene pesnike.
