Be guided through Australia Zoo with an expert local guide. With hundreds of unique animals from around the world, the zoo has a heavy emphasis on Australia’s unique fauna. You’re encouraged to get ‘hands on‘ and pat, hold and feed the animals where possible. A private ‘Animal Encounter’ may be arranged at your request. On the drive to the zoo, learn about the Irwin family and how the humble little park became one of Australia’s best tourist destinations. The Zoo’s multi-million dollar animal hospital was built in honour of Steve’s Mum, from whom he got his wildlife passion. Experience a section of the hospital to learn about the valuable work carried out by the team of dedicated vets. Talk with a volunteer as you view the koala rehabilitation centre and you may even see an animal being operated on. Have you ever wanted to be surrounded by 50 adorably cute koalas and pat their soft fur? A photo holding a koala is an optional extra. The snake exhibit holds 20 beautiful snakes including 10 of the most venomous in the world (you can’t pat these ones!). Watch the gorgeous, round wombats eat, sleep and scratch. Walk through the tropical Australian bird aviary with around 40 beautifully coloured species. Hand-feed and pat the soft fur of one of kings of the Aussie bush - the iconic ‘Big Red’ kangaroos are a true favourite! We have great seats in the ‘Crocoseum’ for the main show of the day. The superb ‘Wildlife Warriors’ show includes a variety of birds-of-prey and the beautifully coloured endangered birds swoop very closely overhead. The show climaxes with a crocodile leaping out of the water for his food! Many other unique animals are also on show such as Tasmanian devils and echidnas. You will also see a fantastic tiger show highlighting these creature’s beauty and athletic ability. The Zoo’s ‘Africa’ section includes giraffes, cheetahs and rhinoceros roaming their own open plain.
