Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math was established by the Founder-President-Acharyya Srila Bhakti Raksak Sridhar Dev-Goswami Maharaj in 1941. In particular it was after the joining in the Math of Srila Bhakti Sundar Govinda Dev-Goswami Maharaj in the late ’50s that the printing proliferated. For many years the publications of the Math were mainly in Bengali. It was only much later, in 1983, that English books first appeared. As a result there is a long history of Bengali spiritual books being produced here. With so many books in print, just a small selection is presented in this catalogue, therefore you are invited to enquire further if you are searching for a particular title. The eight slokas composed by Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu are classics for all the Gaudiya Vaisnavas. This invaluable commentary by Srila Sridhar Maharaj can best be summarised in this verse from his own composition, Sri Sri Prema Dhama Deva Stotram: “Diving deep into the reality of His own beauty and sweetness, Krishna stole the mood of Radharani and, garbing Himself in Her brilliant luster, appeared as Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. For the last twelve years of His manifest pastimes, He was deeply absorbed in the mood of union in separation and shared His heart’s inner feel- ings with His most confidential devotees. In the agony of separation from Krishna, volcanic eruptions of ecstasy flowed from His heart, and His teachings, known as Siksastakam, appeared from His lips like streams of golden lava. I fall at the feet of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the Golden Volcano of Divine Love.”
