Camden Cricket Club Camden Cricket Club Presentation of Awards 2019/2020 Season Annual Presentation 2019/2020 Camden Cricket Club Club Sponsors Our thanks are extended to the following sponsors for their generous support throughout the season: 2 Annual Presentation 2019/2020 Camden Cricket Club 3 Annual Presentation 2019/2020 Camden Cricket Club The Presidents Report Dear Camden Cricket Club Members, thank you for your patience this year, in what was a long and drawn out season, with Bushfires, Smoke, Floods to Severe Heat and finally COVID-19 - hence why “My Country” – “I love a sunburnt country”, is so well written and remembered. Congratulations once again on another successful season. The way our Players, Coaches, Managers, Parents and Committee represent the Club is phenomenal. This is why our Club is held in great esteem by Cricket Australia, Cricket NSW, Sydney Thunder and to be completely honest “Envied by Others” - We have always played this beautiful game in the right spirit, but as always hard but fair; keep up the good work. Thank you to all the Club Sponsors, and Team Sponsors for once again showing support to the Club for this season. Without your valuable contributions we would not be able to continually improve and develop the skills of our players and put back into grass roots cricket. Our Club once again fielded the largest number of junior teams in the association, 16 in total including the Wests Cup. We continue to offer Woolworths Master Blaster and Junior Blaster Programs as a Club on a Sat- urday morning which keeps our Club thriving and in good stead. The highlight of my season was watching Geoff Charlton’s young team finish undefeated premiers in the Un- der 10 Green Competition. What really stood out for me wasn’t just the winning, but the team harmony and culture that Geoff and the Parents created. Every single family member made the time to come to Camden Valley Inn for our Club Presentation and the boys were showcased accordingly. Our Under 16’s are also well worth a mention. The majority of these young men have played their entire jun- ior careers with the Club. This season we had 15 members in the squad including 7 Rep Players. To watch them enjoy each other’s company and welcome under 14’s and 15’s into the team when required was great to see. I look forward to watching you in Seniors next season. It was great to see our Club blossom with 2 full female teams, Roger and Glen’s Under 12’s and Craig’s Under 10’s. I’ve been told that dancing, singing and jiving makes cricket entertaining. Takes me back to my first sea- son coaching / managing for my son, when all of a sudden the music from the equestrian centre came over the loud speakers at Onslow when Camden v Camden played each other in Under 10’s – Conga Lines were formed by the teams whilst the game was being played. To all our Coaches, Managers, Scorers and Volunteers for our 16 Junior teams, I’d like to pass on a very big thank you for not only taking an active role to help the Club, but offering skills, mentoring and valuable time to arrange team training, and coordinating players and umpiring on game day. It is a very large commitment but I’m sure we all find it very rewarding to see the extent to which players improve from the start of the sea- son to the end, and knowing life-long friendship and bonds are formed. We had 8 senior teams with many juniors deciding to play seniors each week, whether fulltime, fill-in or part- timers. We had 4 semi-finalists and 3 premiers due to the season finishing early due to COVID-19 and our teams being highest on the ladder. To Kenny McNeil’s 7th grade team, I went and watched the day unfold. You fought all day, and to require 1 wicket with about 12 minutes to go, after a huge whole hearted effort led by Wayne Robertson, only to fall agonizingly short - I commend you and the team on your efforts and the way you played the game. We have also been arranging Club Social Events, loads of Charity Work for Bush Fire Relief, Condobolin through Sydney Thunder, Macarthur PSSA Schools, used cricket gear / clothing and raffles throughout the year. A big shout out to Greg Pinnington, Dylan Scott, and Simon Neich and thank you to Lisa Tipping for all her work coordinating the Season Launch Golf Day and a great Trivia Night. This was a fantastic evening for the Club as always and I’m sure all that attended would agree. 4 Annual Presentation 2019/2020 Camden Cricket Club Finally, I would like to personally acknowledge and thank our current Committee for all their efforts, hard work and support throughout the 2019/20 cricket season, all of whom have been terribly busy working tire- lessly behind the scenes. Without their knowledge, commitment and energy the Club wouldn’t be what it is today. Junior Vice President - Paul Brewster Senior Vice President - Tim Constantine Secretary - Greg Little Assistant Secretary - Glen Tipping Treasurer - Roger Cubitt Registrar - Lisa Saunders Sponsorship Coordinator - Greg Pinnington Equipment Coordinator - Rory O’Reilly Umpires Coordinator - Jon Shaw Coaching Coordinator - Graeme Hardy Social Events Coordinator - Lisa Tipping Chairman of Selectors - Ken McNeil Development Officer - Clair Hardy Our Club CDCA District Representatives for this year were once again Michael Strong, Peter McClelland and newbie Aaron Consunji - Thank you for all your time and effort. Your work sometimes must feel unappreci- ated however it is invaluable for cricket as a whole. We hope you all had an enjoyable season and experience with the Club. I look forward to seeing you all for the 2020/21 Season. The girls improved in all areas across the summer and turned up each week with a great attitude and a smile on their face. Teamwork and encouraging each other were highlights, as was watching the girls gain the skills needed to play competitive cricket. Win, lose or draw the girls always gave it their best shot and we look forward to seeing the girls back in the 2020/2021 season. Detail First CTPL Men’s Kookaburra Cup Grand Final 2018/19 v Blundstone Arena 24 February 2019 Umpires: Greg Beechey & Jerry Matibiri CTPL Club Championship Award Club Championships Ladder Position Club Points 1 Clarence 321 2 Kingborough 314 3 North Hobart 243 4 Lindisfarne 242 5 University 229 6 SHSB 191 7 New Town 178 8 Glenorchy 149 9 Brighton 96 10 Greater Northern 17 As has been the case the last three seasons, Clarence and Kingborough are fighting to claim the Club Championship. Kingborough had led for the early part of the season but following from the Christmas break, the Roos have edged ahead narrowly. The club championship reflects the overall position of the clubs within the CTPL, taking into account all CTPL grades, male and female. There is a tight tussle in the middle of the ladder also with North Hobart continuing to build and move into third position ahead of Lindisfarne and University. There are still plenty of points up for grabs with two-day cricket featuring heavily for the remainder of the season. Lord Taverners Spirit of Cricket Award The Spirit of Cricket ladder is as tight as ever with the averages of 2nd place through to 5th place separated by only 0.07 points. Competition new comers, Greater Northern, are in the box seat with Kingborough and University hot on their tails. Clubs are rated after each game on three aspects with the average rating across all games played by the club in all grades determining the final victor. To have 9 clubs with an average above 6 reflects that the competition is being played in the right spirit.
