The pick of the bowlers being Ewan Mackinlay taking 4 wickets for 10 runs off 8 overs straight. Other wicket takers were; Rory Jenkins 2 wickets and Jake Thomas 1 wicket. After a good bowling and fielding performance it was our turn to bat and we needed 62 runs to win off 40 overs. After losing 3 key wickets for just 13 runs, things were not looking very good for us. Then, a key partnership from the class of Ewan Mackinlay and young gun Nicholas Newton, put things back in our favour. The two boys held on with superb batting and chased down the total of 61 after only 16 overs to claim a memorable win over Wagga High. Mackinlay finishing on 12 not out but the stand out was Nicholas Newton on 23 not out. We now continue with good form into the second round against the winner of Kooringal and Leeton. Camden Cricket Club Presentation of Awards 2019/2020 Season Annual Presentation 2019/2020 Camden Cricket Club Club Sponsors Our thanks are extended to the following sponsors for their generous support throughout the season: 2 Annual Presentation 2019/2020 Camden Cricket Club 3 Annual Presentation 2019/2020 Camden Cricket Club The Presidents Report Dear Camden Cricket Club Members, thank you for your patience this year, in what was a long and drawn out season, with Bushfires, Smoke, Floods to Severe Heat and finally COVID-19 - hence why “My Country” – “I love a sunburnt country”, is so well written and remembered. Congratulations once again on another successful season. The way our Players, Coaches, Managers, Parents and Committee represent the Club is phenomenal. This is why our Club is held in great esteem by Cricket Australia, Cricket NSW, Sydney Thunder and to be completely honest “Envied by Others” - We have always played this beautiful game in the right spirit, but as always hard but fair; keep up the good work. Thank you to all the Club Sponsors, and Team Sponsors for once again showing support to the Club for this season. Without your valuable contributions we would not be able to continually improve and develop the skills of our players and put back into grass roots cricket. Our Club once again fielded the largest number of junior teams in the association, 16 in total including the Wests Cup. We continue to offer Woolworths Master Blaster and Junior Blaster Programs as a Club on a Sat- urday morning which keeps our Club thriving and in good stead.

4.45 1 SCHOOLS CRICKET IN 2018 QPM REVIEW BY DOUGLAS HENDERSON After the hottest and driest summer since 1976 (when a hosepipe ban had come into force early in the season, and schools played on dustbowls) it was hard to recall the wet start. Matches were called off days in advance, and the first two rounds of the National T20 Cup were ravaged. But it turned into a glorious summer for schools cricket. Or so it might, had not the pressure of exams grown unbearable. The impression was that, though schools understandably pushed their students to work hard, it was in fact parents who drove the agenda. At one school, a senior master – who should have known better – refused to let his son play, or even practise, for the first XI during the five-week GCSE period. Elsewhere, a cricket master, when asked whether parents were incensed at paying vast fees for a summer term which barely existed, said complaints only arose when he insisted pupils play matches. Many schools reported it was almost impossible to field their best XI. This, surely, is madness – though whether anyone is prepared to stop it is unclear. Another cricket master spoke for most, perhaps, when he wrote “The season was as short as usual, and marred by other school withdrawals and exam disruption. But we soldier on in the hope that someone will save schools cricket one day!” sI’ve changed the quotation a The last word on this goes to David Elstone, chairman of the school sports little… committee of the HMC (the body representing many of the UK’s independent schools): It’s a real crisis for the future of cricket in this country.
