    New Attraction: Water Coaster "Atlantica" SuperSplash Off to new shores: Since March 19th 2005, the visitors of Europa-Park can look forward to a brand-new attraction. "Atlantica? SuperSplash is the name of the new water coaster which set sail for its maiden voyage at the beginning of Europa-Park's 30th anniversary season. A world novelty is one track section with turns and a backwards ride, which was never realised with boats of this size before. The new water coaster was designed by Mack Rides in Waldkirch, it is the first component of the Portuguese themed area, which will be completed in 2006. According to its history as a traditional seafaring nation, the main theming of Portugal is the era of the great Portuguese seafarers and discoverers in the 15th and 16th century, when it was a challenge to conquer the oceans. Go aboard and experience an adventurous ride through the vastness of the Atlantic Ocean! A 16th century Portuguese fortress is the center of the area around the "Atlantica? SuperSplash. Its interior is dominated by "Henry the Seafarer?, who points at the endless Atlantic Ocean in order to challenge everybody to set sail and discover the unnknown. Because once the visitors leave the strong walls of the protective fortress, they are put to a severe test? With a height of 32 meters, the "Atlantica? SuperSplash is Europa-Park's second-highest attraction (the "Silver Star? has a height of 73 meters). In five large boats, each one for up to 16 persons, the visitors are pulled up to the highest point of the water coaster.

    GUIDA TURISTICA IN BREVE EUROPARK INGRESSO GERMANIA: inaugurata nel 1997, quest'area ha sostituito il vecchio ingresso di Europa Park. Qui gli Ospiti trovano la stazione di partenza della monorotaia che permette di godere della vista di quasi tutto il parco divertimenti, i giardini del Castello di Balthasar e alcune attrazioni per bambini. ITALIA: inaugurata nel 1982, ospita le dark rides Ghost Castle (a tema horror) e Piccolo Mondo (a tema Italia), il Teatro dell'Arte, lo show "Carnevale di Venezia", l'Open Air Stage dove si susseguono spettacoli di acrobati o giocolieri e l'attrazione Volo da Vinci. Ghost Castle: attrazione al buio nella quale i visitatori compiono un viaggio attraverso stanze infestate da fantasmi e scenografie ispirate al mondo del horror. Simile a quella dei parchi Disney, questa attrazione è adatta a tutta la famiglia ma alcune scene possono impressionare i più piccoli. FRANCIA: dominato dalla sagoma della sfera metallica del roller coaster indoor Eurosat, la quale si ispira alla struttura di Spaceship Earth del parco Disney EPCOT situato ad Orlando in Florida, il quartiere francese si sviluppa attorno ad uno specchio d'acqua. Nei pressi di Eurosat troviamo: Universe of Energy - Dinosaur Ride, il cinema 4D con effetti speciali in sala, la torre panoramica girevole Euro-Tower ed altre attrazioni minori. L'area ospita anche la stazione di Silver Star, il secondo Hyper Coaster più alto d'Europa (73 metri). Universe of Energy Dinosaur ride: un'attrazione dedicata al mondo dei dinosauri nella quale si compie un viaggio nella foresta dell'epoca jurassica, a stretto contatto con gli animali preistorici.

Roller coasters are iconic structures that provide safe thrills for riders. Safety is achieved using multiple safety mechanisms: for example, bogies have multiple wheels that hold trains on track, a block system prevents trains from colliding and riders are held in place with safety restraints. Regular maintenance checks are also performed to prevent accidents caused by failed parts. Roller coasters are designed using a heartline spline and calculating accelerations in all possible scenarios to prevent rollbacks and too high values of accelerations, which could cause damage to riders’ bodies. A reach envelope is applied to the spline to prevent riders from hitting nearby objects. The speed and curvature of the track combined create acceler- ations that need to be countered with adequate track and support structures. A track cross- section usually consists of rails, cross-ties and a spine, while support structures can vary depending on height and loads.

Vorwort “Wie kam ich zum Thema?“ Also ich hatte zuerst einige andere Ideen, wie Samsung, was sich aber für meine P+R Arbeit einfach nicht eignete. Man kann einfach nichts Eigenes machen. Aber dann kam ein Blitzgedanke: “Ich könnte ja eine Doku erstellen.“ Nun musste ich nur noch herausfinden, über welches Thema. Da ich ein grosser Fan von Achterbahnen bin und seit kurzem eine eigene Website zum Thema habe, kam ich auf die Idee, eine Dokumentation über den Europapark zu machen. Freizeitparks sind ein gemeinsames Hobby unserer Familie, ich besuche von klein auf Freizeitparks und war schon sehr oft im Europapark (fast 100 Mal). Der Europapark ist ausserdem mein Lieblingsfreizeitpark. Da ich in den Herbstferien drei Tage in den Europapark ging (schon vor Beginn der Arbeit geplant) und wir die Jahreskarte wieder nehmen wollten, war dieses Thema perfekt.
