I am pleased to share two new major releases from Publications relevant to this list.

The first is the monumental three volume Compendium of , Asanga's Mahāyānasamgraha, introduced and translated by Karl Brunnholzl.

Included here is the text itself along with its Indian and Tibetan commentaries in three volumes, presenting virtually everything anybody might want to know about the Yogācāra School of mahāyāna Buddhism.

The text and commentaries address in detail the nature and operation of the eight kinds of consciousness, the often-misunderstood notion of "mind only" (cittamātra), dependent origination, the cultivation of the path and its fruition in terms of the four wisdoms, and the three bodies (kāyas) of a buddha.

Volume 1 presents the translation of the Mahāyānasamgraha along with a commentary by . The introduction gives an overview of the text and its Indian and Tibetan commentaries, and explains in detail two crucial elements of the Yogācāra : the ālaya-consciousness and the afflicted mind (klistamanas).

Volume 2 presents translations of the commentary by Asvabhāva and an anonymous Indian commentary on the first chapter of the text. These translations are supplemented in the endnotes by excerpts from Tibetan commentaries and related passages in other Indian and Chinese Yogācāra works.

Volume 3 includes appendices with excerpts from other Indian and Chinese Yogācāra texts and supplementary materials on major Yogācāra topics in the Mahāyānasamgraha.

The second is Shabkar Tsogdruk Rangdrol's The Emanated Scripture of Manjusri, translated by Gelong Tenzin Jamchen (Sean Price). This slim volume is a wonderful overview of the entire path of and could be a wonderful book for course adoption.

The topics covered represent the full range of the wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism: the reflections that make us want to practice with our whole being; the critical importance of having a spiritual guide (a

These topics all come into focus through a heartfelt dialog between Shabkar and his students that gives a vitality to the presentation. Shabkar mines and distills the essence of Buddhist practice from an incredible range: the Jataka tales of the Buddha’s previous lives, the discourses of the Buddha himself, the Kadampa and lojong masters of old, , termas, and the saying of masters from across the Indian and Tibetan systems of Buddhist practice. Yet the result is short and simple, digestible and relatable.

This famed Dzogchen hermit is also the model of non-sectarianism: the Manjusri of the title refers to Tsongkhapa, whose Lam Rim Chenmo is the starting point and basis for much f the discussions that are included. He repeatedly refers and pulls from his own tradition but also the , , Drikung, Drukpa, Dakpo , Shije, Chod, , and Bodongpa.
