Finding the right niche, finding your own place, appreciaon and identy can be a rather tedious undertaking especially if you are “just” a German doomy band, and strive for scking out of a never-ending stream of new bands that usually are as quickly formed as they vanish. Since 2005, death/doom act NAILED TO OBSCURITY – tastefully named aer a track from Hate Eternal's debut record – are working, wring, composing, baling to leave their mark on today's scene, and in contrast to many others, successfully have evolved step-by-step musically and were rewarded with impressive results on the live circuit: in 2014, Summer Breeze in 2015, main support on selected German shows for Paradise Lost and , not bad at all, right?

The reason why they have achieved all this is rather simple to explain: NAILED TO OBSCURITY work hard and sound great. Aer debung in 2007 with “Abyss”, their second opus “Opaque” (Apostasy Records, 2013) presented a giant leap forward, perfectly blending classic , 's “Brave Murder Day”, Paradise Lost, and to a variable yet highly accessible mix that offers a constant melancholic mood as well as crushing heaviness, strong growls, infecous guitar melodies, and mounts in flawless songs that managed to win over the masses and media alike (8/10 in Rock Hard, 9/10 Metal.de, 8/10 Powermetal.de, 9/10 Bloodchamber.de etc). Where other bands seem to be their biggest own fans, the lads in NAILED TO OBSCURITY crically analyse each new riff, every live show they played between Mexico and Romania, lock themselves up in their rehearsal room somewhere in close proximity to the North Sea in Lower Saxony, spend hours seng up their new light show, and invest me in finding new gear that improves their onstage performance, to sum it up: they are not just talented, they know how to transfer dedicaon into a strong DIY work-ethic.

NAILED TO OBSCURITY even scraped a full recording once current singer Raimund Ennenga entered the game in 2012, realizing he brought exactly the level of expression and quality the band had yearned for. “Aer listening to the instrumental-versions of the that would become “Opaque”, I was absolutely sure that I’d love to be a part of this.” Raimund points out, who also rewrote the album's enre lyrics. “The arrangements are so diverse and full of emoons. Then, I wrote lyrics together witch Carsten and Ole which brought us a lot more together. I think the lyrics we wrote work quite well with the music. They deal with mulple types of inner conflicts, how people handle or hide them and also our ever-changing view of past events. “Opaque” sends the listener on an emoonal trip through the innermost with its mulple musical facets. I can’t await to connue this story.”

That connuaon is already in moon as these lines are being wrien while NAILED TO OBSCURITY are busy creang their third album somewhere near the cold waves of the North Sea. Meanwhile, the quintet has also been acquired to a renowned booking company (Dragon Producons), aiming to take them out on the road wherever they can, and are confident to develop further from the remarkable results achieved with “Opaque”. “When we released “Opaque”, we immediately felt this was going to be a giant step for the band”, says Jan-Ole Lamber (guitars). “We felt more confident with what we had come up with, and feedback from press was overwhelming. Suddenly we got the chance to play bigger fesvals and also we could only dream of before.“

That dream is far from being over. NAILED TO OBSCURITY's magnificent melodic doom/death shall conquer the hearts and souls of many with the release of their third opus. That is a promise.

“NAILED TO OBSCURITY created a piece of that music that fullfills more than all standards. For friends of warm sounds of Amorphis across Opeth to Katatonia ‘Opaque’ is a must have.” Rock Hard,Germany LINE-UP Raimund Ennenga – Vocals Jan-Ole Lamber – Guitar Volker Dieken – Guitar Carsten Schorn – Bass Jann Hillrichs – Drums
