Description: Before hitting the road on July 6 for the “Last Summer On Earth” tour, Barenaked Ladies will release a rarities collection that highlights the band’s years at Reprise Records with 10 unreleased tracks and two hard-to-find recordings, Stop Us If You Heard This Before!

The Canadian pop-rock group signed with Reprise in 1992 and cultivated a loyal following who appreciated their free wheeling concerts and memorable songwriting. Stop Us If You Heard This Before! draws deeply from those formative years with an early, live version of “Same Thing,” a live cover of the Beastie Boys’ “Shake Your Rump,” the demo for longtime favorite “Old Apartment,” and the previously unreleased live track “Teenage Wasteland.” Also included from that era is the rare Pull’s Break Remix version of “One Week,” the smash that helped propel the Barenaked Ladies to international stardom in 1998. Stop Us If You Heard This Before! also unearths several unreleased tracks recorded during sessions for Everything To Everyone (2003), including “Long While” and “I Don’t Get It Anymore,” along with the demo for the album track “Second Best.” Also included from those sessions are versions of “Half A Heart” and “Adrift” – two songs the band later re-recorded for Barenaked Ladies Are Me (2006). The collection offers two remaining gems: an early version of “I Can, I Will, I Do” recorded in 2001 during sessions for Disc One: All Their Greatest Hits; and “Yes, Yes, Yes,” a song previously available only as a UK b-side or as a bonus track from the deluxe version of Everything To Everyone.

Storm Corrosion is the long-discussed and highly anticipated collaboration between two of the modern progressive rock scene's most innovative and multi-talented artists: Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth and Porcupine Tree’s Steven Wilson.

The pair have been friends since the early '00s, when Wilson co-produced Opeth's revered 'Blackwater Park' album. Over the years, they'd often spoken of working on a project together, but it wasn't until recently that they managed to make something happen, when Mikael flew over to visit Steve in the UK and they ended up in Wilson's home studio throwing ideas around. That visit was the nascence of a whole self-titled album, written and produced by the pair and mixed by Wilson.

The sound of Storm Corrosion can best be described as enchanting, orchestral, ambient, epic (half the album's tracks clock in around the 10 minute mark) and nothing short of surprising to the new ear. However, the musicians' respective fanbases will be primed to appreciate the new output, with Wilson's recent solo album, Grace For Drowning and Opeth's Heritage having brought them to a logical place to understand Storm Corrosion. Sun Midnight Sun follows Sara Watkins' critically acclaimed 2009 self-titled solo debut produced by John Paul Jones. In the three years since her last release, Watkins has been busy touring the world as guest fiddle player and vocalist with the Decemberists and joining Garrison Keillor on his nationwide Summer Love performance tours, as well as acting as his first and only guest host for A Prairie Home Companion broadcasts.

Sun Midnight Sun was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Shawn Everett at Zeitgeist Studio, Los Angeles, and includes songs written by Watkins ("You and Me," "Take Up Your Spade") as well as several collaborations with Mills ("The Foothills," "Be There," "The Accord," "Impossible," and "Lock and Key"). It also features songs by Dan Wilson ("When It Pleases You") and Willie Nelson ("I'm a Memory"), and a rendition of The Everly Brothers classic "You're the One I Love," on which Fiona Apple duets with Watkins. A limited-edition 7" of "You're the One I Love" will be made available Saturday, April 21, as part of the fifth-annual Record Store Day.

ARTIST & INFO Hometown: San Diego, CA In 1989, Sara Watkins, barely out of her childhood, started playing in a nascent version of Nickel Creek at the seemingly unlikely venue of That Pizza Place in Carlsbad, California, along with her guitarist brother Sean and mandolinist friend Chris Thile (and chaperoned, of course, by her bluegrass-playing parents). The prodigious young trio built a reputation in bluegrass, folk, and country circles, then catapulted to mainstream prominence in 2000 after releasing an album produced by Alison Krauss. When not on the road or in the studio with Nickel Creek, Watkins guest-starred as fiddler and/or harmony vocalist on albums by Bela Fleck, the Chieftains, Ben Lee, Dan Wilson, Richard Thompson, and Ray La Montagne, among others. In addition, Watkins and brother Sean established an informal get-up-and-jam residency called the Watkins Family Hour at L.A. club Largo, "an uber-cool but cozy music and comedy club in Hollywood," as Sean has put it.

In 2009, she released her self-titled solo debut on Nonesuch, which was produced by former Led Zepplin bassist John Paul Jones and featured eight self-penned tunes along with renditions of tracks by Jimmie Rodgers, Jon Brion, Norman Blake, and Tom Waits. Her next record is produced by Blake Mills and will be released by Nonesuch in the spring of 2012.

Always the infinite is lurking around, reminding you that it's not impossible, that it exists. Description: February 25 marked the 20-year anniversary for Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power, a landmark album widely acknowledged as one of metal's most enduring and influential masterworks. Recorded by singer Philip Anselmo, guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, bassist Rex Brown and drummer Vinnie Paul, the album has been certified double platinum by the RIAA and features several of the group's most iconic songs including "Walk," "Mouth For War," "This Love," and "Fucking Hostile."

To celebrate, Rhino channels the album's relentless blitzkrieg of musical aggression onto a two-disc Deluxe Edition. The collection features the debut of “Piss,” an incendiary blast of vintage Pantera from the original recording sessions. Along with the unreleased song, Vulgar Display Of Power (Deluxe Edition) also features unreleased video of the quartet performing six songs at the Monsters Of Rock show in Reggio Emilia, Italy on September 12, 1992. The set list draws almost exclusively from Vulgar (“This Love,” “Rise” “Mouth For War”), but also includes the title track from their previous album, Cowboys From Hell, and a melding of Vulgar’s “Hollow” and Cowboys’ “Domination,” which was a live staple of the band.
