MARTELLO TOWER (Chapter 1, Telemachus)

Irish Breakfast Tea Brothership Whiskey Whipped Cream Sugar

A twist on the classic Irish Coffee, inspired by Buck Mulligan's morning beverage. Strong Irish Breakfast Tea, made a bit stronger with the addition of Brothership Irish-American whiskey, topped with freshly whipped cream and a touch of sugar.

—We can drink it black, Stephen said thirstily. There's a lemon in the locker. —O, damn you and your Paris fads! Buck Mulligan said. I want milk. Haines came in from the doorway and said quietly: —That woman is coming up with the milk. —The blessings of God upon you! Buck Mulligan cried, jumping up from his chair. Sit down. Pour out the tea there. The sugar is in the bag. Here, I can't go fumbling at the damned eggs. He hacked through the fry on the dish and slapped it out on three plates, saying: —In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti. Haines sat down to pour out the tea. —I'm giving you two lumps each, he said. But, I say, Mulligan, you do make strong tea, don't you?

SWEETS OF SIN (Chapter 10, Wandering Rocks)

Art in the Age Sierra Fig Cordial Kinsey Bourbon Pear Shrub Soda Fig

A highball cocktail with flavors from Boylan's gift basket of treats for Molly, and a name taken from the romance novel Bloom picks up for her. AITA Sierra Fig cordial stands in for the port in the basket, with its similar raisin-like, nutty notes, and a fig garnish lends the drink some suggestive visual symbolism. Kinsey Bourbon adds more boozy sweetness, which is balanced by the tart pear shrub.

The blond girl in Thornton's bedded the wicker basket with rustling fibre. Blazes Boylan handed her the bottle swathed in pink tissue paper and a small jar. —Put these in first, will you? he said. —Yes, sir, the blond girl said. And the fruit on top. —That'll do, game ball, Blazes Boylan said. She bestowed fat pears neatly, head by tail, and among them ripe shamefaced peaches.

NIGHTBLUE FRUIT (Chapter 17, Ithaca)

Art in the Age Damson Plum Cordial Kinsey Rye Spiced Guinness syrup Orange Peel

A nightcap, inspired by the penultimate chapter. Art in the Age Damson Plum cordial is a nod to the "nightblue fruit" from this famous line, as well as Plumtree's Potted Meat which pops up throughout the novel. Spiced Guinness syrup adds a hint of the iconic beer.

What spectacle confronted them when they, first the host, then the guest, emerged silently, doubly dark, from obscurity by a passage from the rere of the house into the penumbra of the garden?

The heaventree of stars hung with humid nightblue fruit.
