Background for Teachers Teachers should have read the book before reading it to the class and come up with questions they plan on asking their students.

Student Prior Knowledge Students should have basic knowledge of alphabet recognition and writing. They should also have knowledge of colors and shapes.

Intended Learning Outcomes Students after this lesson should be able to recognize different types of animals and to know what they are by looking at their pictures.

Instructional Procedures 1)First, you need to have all the supplies ready for the day that you will be doing this activity. 2)On the day of the activity tell your students about what you have planned for them. 3)You then need to have them sit down so you can read the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear". After you read the book you should ask questions to your students about the book. You can even have them give you different animals and you write them on the board so they can get an idea for their paper. 4)Have your students go back to their desks and think about what they are wanting to draw. (Here you can have example of what animal you like the best so they have an idea of what they want) 5)Hand out the papers so your students can start drawing on them. 6)You should go around and see if any of them need help with writing the animals name or their own name. 7)After everyone is done with their papers you should collect them and make sure names are on the papers. 8)When you have all your students papers you then should start assembling your book with whatever binding agent you want to use. 9)After you have assembled the book you can make copies of all the pages and make books for the individual students to take home or just make the one book for the class to look at whenever they have free time. 10)You are now done with this activity, I hope you enjoy using this and that your students like doing this activity.

Strategies for Diverse Learners Students who need a challenge can draw a more intricate animal. For the students that are struggling you can help them with the writing of the animal they chose. You can also write their name with a highlighter so they are able to trace it. To make it easier for some students you can give students pictures of different animals and they can draw it from the picture.

Assessment Plan To assess the students performance look over the rubric. You should also help your students when doing this activity.
