W E I G O L D & Ö H Jean Rondeau M
W E I G O L D & B Ö H Jean Rondeau M Harpsichord International Artists & Tours Described as “one of the most natural performers one is likely to hear on a classical music stage” by the Washington Post, Jean Rondeau is a veritable global ambassador for his instrument. His outstanding talent and innovative approach to keyboard repertoire have been critically acclaimed, marking him out as one of today’s leading harpsichordists. Following a year that saw his debut with the Orchestre de Paris performing Poulenc’s Concerto Champêtre, Rondeau’s 2021/22 season includes concerto engagements with the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, a concert tour with the Freiburger Barockorchester, and a CPE Bach tour with the Kammerorchester Basel with Rondeau play-conducting from the harpsichord. In the realm of chamber music, Rondeau shares the stage with Nicolas Alstaedt at the Berlin Staatsoper and re-reunites with his fellow co-founders of the Nevermind Quartet for recording projects and performances in Madrid, Dortmund and la Chaux-de-Fonds. He also joins long-time collaborator Thomas Dunford for a tour of Japan following recent appearances at the Stockholm Early Music Festival, the Festival Concentus Moraviae, the Ribeira Sacra Guitar Festival, the Haapsalu Festival and the Hindsgavl Festival last summer. A notable highlight throughout the year is Rondeau’s tour of major European venues performing Bach’s Goldberg Variations – a project long in the making; emphasising sustainability with a “green itinerary” to highlight his environmental commitments, it includes visits to the Berlin Philharmonie, the Frankfurt Opera House, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, the Liszt Academy in Budapest, Geneva’s Victoria Hall, the Philharmonie de Paris, and London’s Wigmore Hall. -

Grigori Sokolov
GRIGORI SOKOLOV at the Théâtre des Champs- Elysées - Paris, 2002 A dim light picks out the outlines of the hall. Suddenly a massive shadow appears and moves swiftly over to the keyboard, the only brightly lit surface to stand out from the large coffin- like box in the center of the stage. There follows the vaguest of unsmiling acknowledgments in the general direction of the audience, and then the music begins. Throughout the next two hours this music will keep its listeners enthralled with its extraordinary intensity as the audience senses the formidable physical, pianistic, musical and emotional presence of this most secretive of present- day pianists, Grigory Sokolov. S ecretive, he certainly is. A man of vast culture, cheerful and even mischievous offstage, he seems to be cocooned within his own irrefutable logic. Only his musical thoughts are susceptible of being imparted to the public, thoughts embodied beneath his fingers with the utmost interiority and within the ephemeral and exclusive framework of the concert hall. All other considerations, including those of career and self- promotion, are rejected as external to the music. They are, strictly speaking, irrelevant. The phenomenon of the artist retiring behind his art is both intriguing and salutary. It no doubt accounts partly to the fact that Sokolov is still relatively unknown to the public at large. Yet there are many people who are convinced that, following the deaths of musicians like Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, Glenn Gould and Sviatoslav Richter, he is now the greatest -

Vogler Quartet
Vogler Quartet Tim Vogler, violin Frank Reinecke, violin Stefan Fehlandt, viola Stephan Forck, cello The Grammy-nominated Vogler Quartet celebrated its 30th anniversary during the 2015/2016 season, and, with all four of its original members, continues to build upon its reputation as one of the finest quartets of its generation. Mastering a repertoire of over two hundred works from all periods and musical styles, founding members Tim Vogler, Frank Reinecke, Stefan Fehlandt, and Stephan Forck are widely recognized for their uncommon musical intelligence, homogeneous sound, insightful interpretations, and unconventional programming. They have created a vibrant ensemble spirit, as well as a unique string quartet sound which consistently offers new insights into the genre. Formed in East Berlin in 1985, the quartet continues to pursue an ambitious international schedule of concerts and master classes in prestigious venues around the world. In spring 2012, the Vogler Quartet returned to North America for a special collaboration with cabaret artist Ute Lemper and clarinetist/pianist Stefan Malzew, which not only included highly acclaimed concerts in Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center, among many others, but also resulted in a Grammy-nominated recording entitled “Paris Days/Berlin Nights” on the Sony label. This lively collaboration continued into the 2015/2016 season. Highlights of their most recent North American tour included a multi-concert residency at Chamber Music San Francisco and an appearance at Friends of Chamber Music Vancouver, in collaboration with pianist Ian Parker. The 2015/2016 season also featured additional engagements with Mr. Parker in selected venus throughout the Pacific Northwest. The four musicians are as much at home in the musical centers of Europe as they are in America, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, and have enjoyed a series of successes in expanding chamber music audiences worldwide. -

Essay-Do You Hear Me.Pdf
Do you hear me? Handbook for violin contemporary music notation by Dejana Sekulić Author’s Note: This might be a work with no end, as it is almost impossible to think of there could be an end of this research, and of this essay. Every new sign, sonority, color, timbre... experience in reading and playing becomes additional material. With (almost) each new piece, there will be new additions, especially to the segment “Notation: see me-hear me-make me”. It is, as well, very likely that new chapters will arise, both on left and right hand technique, as well as marks on other sonority and timbre remarks. This publication captures this research at this point in time, and should not be considered as the ultimate statement, but the base on which the future findings will be added on.
