Whitehead, 14 6 Leadenhall Street, London, to Owen Lloyd Esq., 5 Dora St., Portmadoc enquiring if they have yet been able to ascertain whether the W.W. Whitehead & Co., 14 6 Leadenhall Street, London, to Owen Lloyd Esq., Dora St., Porthmadog replying to a complaint about short payment for freight taken to Sicily on the W.W. Llovd. TSW i s aggrieved that not only did the XM9530/25b ship load a far smaller cargo Contd. than her capacity, but also the Captain sent no certificate of delivery, so they were unable to claim due payment from their buyer. In the circumstances they have decided to pay £25 in order to settle the dispute amicably. TSW concludes irritably: "We paid an extravagant price for the W.W. Lloyd outwards and did not make even a brokerage on the homeward charter. The ship has made a splendid voyage at our expense."
