Dorset is well favoured with many beautiful challenging courses and there are six such golf courses within an easy drive (by car). Folke is the closest golf course some 10 minutes away:

Folke Golf Centre - 4 Miles

Alweston, , Dorset, DT9 5HR - Tel: 01963 23330 Folke is a great design the fantastic parkland course at Folke Golf Club has stood just outside the quiet little village of Sherborne since it opened in 1991. A fine challenge for high and low handicappers alike, there are plenty challenges.

Sherborne Golf Club - 8 miles approx 20 minutes Higher Clatcombe, Sherborne, Dorset DT9 4RN, UK (tel: 01935 814431) Beautiful parkland golf course with extensive views. 18 holes, 6415 yards, Par 72. Practice ground. Founded in 1894, and situated on the Dorset / Somerset border. Part of the original course was designed by James Braid, but it has been continually improved and extended over the years. Sherborne Golf is a test for even the very best of golfers. The stunning setting alone is enough to leave you needing to catch your breath with views over the to the south and Glastonbury Tor and beyond to the north. Visitors should telephone in advance and a golf handicap certificate is required. Thursday is Ladies' Day.

Yeovil Golf Club - 8 miles – approx 20 minutes

Sherborne Rd, Yeovil BA21 5BW Tel. 01935 422965 Fax. Parkland 18 holes, 6144 yards S.S.S. 71. also 9 holes, 5016 yards. S.S.S. 66. Practice ground and putting green. The 1st hole lies by the River Yeo before a gentle climb to the high downs. The 14th & 15th holes are challenging being below the player with a deep railway cutting on the left of the green. Course designer is Fowler & Allison, founded in 1907.

Charminster Golf Club- 9 miles Wolfedale Golf Course, Dorchester, Dorset DT2 7SG, UK (tel: 01305 260186) A parkland golf course with 18 holes, 5467 yards, SSS 67. Six-hole practice area. Visitors are welcome anytime, although Sundays are mainly competition days.

Came Down Golf Club - 13 miles Higher Came Dorchester DT2 8NR Tel. 01305 812670 A downland course on chalk downs, situated 1 mile off the A354 between Dorchester and Weymouth. Established in 1896 and steeped in Ryder Cup and Open Championship history. Visitors and societies welcome. Professional shop, buggy hire, practice putting green and nets, comfortable bar and restaurant. Beautiful views over Dorset countryside and Weymouth harbour, home of the Weymouth and Portland
