21-031-LOLO-D6 Supervisor’s Order AREA AND TRAIL CLOSURE

Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. § 551 and 36 C.F.R. §§ 261.50(a) and 261.50 (b), the following acts are prohibited on the National Forest System land described below, within the Seeley Lake Ranger District on the Lolo National Forest, Lewis and Clark County, .

PROHIBITIONS 1. Going into or being upon any area which is closed for the protection of Public health or safety. 36 C.F.R. § 261.53 (e). 2. Being on the trail. 36 C.F.R. § 261.55 (a).

CLOSED AREA The Closed Area includes all land within the boundary described as follows: Starting at Dry Fork – Flathead Divide (T18N, R11W, Sect. 33) and heading northeast following the Lolo National Forest Boundary to Observation Point (T18N, R10W, Sect. 6). Following the Lolo National Forest Boundary southeast to Scapegoat Mountain (T18N, R10W, Sect. 14). Following the ridgeline south to Evans Peak (T18N, R10W, Sect 33). Heading south to Falls Point (T17N, R110W, Sect. 17). Following the ridgeline southwest to Lake Mountain (T16N, R11W, Sect. 3). Following the Scapegoat Boundary northwest to the Lolo National Forest Boundary with the (T17N, R12W, Sect. 11). Heading northeast back to Dry Fork – Flathead Divide (T18N, R11W, Sect. 33).

CLOSED TRAILS All portions of trails within the Closed Area boundary including but not limited to NFST #16, NFST #31.1, NFST #31.1-A, NFST 31.2, NFST #32.3, NFST #80, NFST #361, NFST #367, NFST #369, NFST #377 and NFST #414.

The Closed Trails are shown on the ATTACHED MAP.

PURPOSE The purpose of this order is for public health and safety due to hazardous conditions resulting from fire activities.

EXEMPTIONS Pursuant to Title 36 C.F.R § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order: 1. Persons with a special use authorization or other Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this order. 36 C.F.R § 261.50(e)(1). 2. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in performance of an official duty. 36 C.F.R § 261.50(e)(4).

VIOLATION Violation of this prohibition is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000 for an individual or $10,000 for an organization, or imprisonment for not more than six (6) months, or both (16 U.S.C. § 551 and 18 U.S.C. § 3559, 3571, and 3581).
