TRAINING 7 CONTRACTOR INDUCTION (PTS) APPLICATION FORM 8 ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Contents 1 IE Requirements – Railway Safety October 2010 _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ SECTION 1 - INSTRUCTIONS ON USE OF SITE AND RAILWAY SAFETY ________________________________________________ NOTE : The following instructions are generic in nature and apply to all sites where a Contractor may be asked to undertake works for Iarnród Éireann. Some of the clauses will be specific to certain locations and for particular projects only. Should any doubt exist, regarding any of these instructions the Contractor must seek clarification from IE’s Engineer responsible for the works. 1. Restrictions on use of Site The Contractor shall confine his activities to the works included in the Contract and shall not allow his men or those of his Sub-contractor to trespass onto other parts of the site or onto adjacent lands. In the event of any claims arising due to failure to comply with this Clause, the Contractor shall be held entirely responsible and shall pay any costs in connection therewith. 2. Restrictions due to Railway Operations Most Sites will be situated close to main railway lines with trains operating throughout the day and night. The dangers of working near the railway are in addition to those encountered elsewhere. In particular it should be noted that trains can be passing near the site at speeds up to 100 mph, and that all works must be carried out in such a manner that the railway is maintained in a safe operating condition at all times. In this regard no item of plant, machinery or their appendices i.e. crane jibs, buckets of J.C.B.s etc. while stopped, moving or working may come within a distance of 3 metres of the running edge of any railway line (on or near the line) which is open to traffic without the permission of IE’s Engineer. No excavation shall take place in the proximity of a railway line which is open to traffic without the permission of IE’s Engineer. Tools and materials which might be struck or moved by the slipstream must be at least 2 metres (6 feet 6 inches) from the nearest rail. 3. Possessions Rail traffic ceases to operate over a given railway line when the Engineer takes a "Possession" of that line. The Contractor shall note that all railway lines must be assumed to be open to railway traffic unless IE’s Engineer clearly indicates that a possession has been taken of a particular line for a particular period. In the case where a possession has been taken, work may be carried out alongside the line in question under the supervision of the Engineer. It is important to note that Engineering trains, locomotives and track machines may still run during possession. Possessions are of two types:- 3.1 TII Possession These possessions are periods given between train operations and do not normally involve diversions or cancellations of trains. They are given where work is to be carried out close to a line without interfering with the track itself, and are given on the basis that they may be cancelled at any time to allow a train to pass. 3.2 TIII Possessions These possessions are periods when train operations over a given stretch of track are cancelled for a period, and may involve diversion or cancellation of trains. While every reasonable effort will be made to facilitate the Contractor, there can be not guarantee that a possession requested will be granted. Four weeks' advance notice will be required for granting of all possessions. The Contractor is advised to make applications for possessions to the Engineer at the earliest possible date. In particular, the Contractor should not that extra trains are likely to be running at holiday periods and when special sporting or other events are taking place, thereby lessening the chance of possessions being available at these times. It must be clearly understood that no overrun of possession times will be tolerated under any circumstances. The Contractor shall be responsible for paying directly to Iarnrod Eireann the costs incurred by them by reason of damage to property, obstruction, interruption or hindrance of Rail services necessitating provision of alternative facilities for transport of passengers and or freight

This is to the west of the residential area of Inchicore Terrace South and accessed via Inchicore Parade at the end of St. Patrick’s Terrace. The railway line runs to the north of the site. The Plans submitted show the small area of the building in the context of the other buildings within the Inchicore Works Compound and as shown on the land ownership map. While there are many older more historic buildings within the landholding, there are also some more recently built. The Iarnród Éireann site is fully operational and has a security gated entrance and on-site parking. This is a detached stone/timber/slate building and there are two main rooms with connecting hallway. This small building is now cordoned off with security barriers and does not appear to be operational. It is adjacent to a pond area which also provides a water supply in case of fire.

    Chapter 16 Architectural Heritage 16.0 Introduction This chapter, examines the architectural and cultural heritage potential of the proposed integrated National Paediatric Hospital Project. De este modo, se trata de una reflexión acerca de los baldíos urbanos industriales, del papel de la Historia en la caracterización patrimonial de esos baldíos y del modo en que el planeamiento urbano aborda el conocimiento de los baldíos como preexistencias dignas o no de ser salvaguardadas y reutilizadas. Ejemplificando con siete casos de grandes proyectos urbanos sobre baldíos industriales ferroviarios en el mundo, se demuestra la diversidad de la casuística y la problemática común. Other surrounding suburbs are Inchicore, Palmerstown, Clondalkin, Neilstown, and Bluebell. The name Baile Diarmuid, ‘the town of Dermot’, is said to have derived its name from Dermot MacGillamocholmo who was a grandson of Dermot McMorrough the king of Leinster and owned a large part of the lands in Dublin along with Ballyfermot. There was a castle, church, and graveyard in Ballyfermot dedicated to St Laurence.
