One is provided by Daily Life Tsukuba International Association and the other is by Keyaki no Kai. Both classes are six months per term, start in April and October and are open for adults. Check “Tsukuba City Garbage Disposal Calendar”, City’s Website and “Guide to Sorting and Putting Out Garbage” booklet for further information. Please dispose of garbage at the designated garbage collection site before 8:00 a.m. according to the schedule and the sorting rules. Reservation is required to dispose of oversized garbage (when one edge is longer than 50cm) and it is charged. According to Home Appliance Recycling Act, air conditioners, TV sets (including CRT, liquid crystal and plasma types of TVs), refrigerators/freezers, washing machines, cloth dryers are not accepted by the city. The stores where you bought the appliance or you will buy a new one may collect them with charge. If you cannot find a shop to take over your appliance, Waste Management Division of City Hall introduces shops. The city does not collect those appliances above, so please do not leave them at city’s garbage collection sites. According to Law for Promotion of Effective Utilization of Resources, personal home computers and displays must be directly collected by the manufacturers when discarded. Contact the manufacturer for details. PC3R Promotion Association (Phone: 03-5282- 7685) collects and recycls home-build-PCs. Contact them for more details. Please make sure that the city does not collect computers. Reducing▲garbage Use the recycling boxes at supermarkets and department stores in the city for milk cartons and styrofoam food trays. Giving away things in good conditions and selling to recycling shops or at flea markets are good ways to reduce garbage. Many retailers in Tsukuba City are not distributing free plastic bags to stop the global warming by reducing garbage. Please bring your bag for shopping.
