French Foreign Legion Reference Books (Draft) French Foreign Legion Reference Guide

A. French Foreign Legion Bibliography

The most prolific writer about the French Foreign Legion is Martin Windrow. Mr. Windrow is a long time commissioning and art director for the “Men at Arms” and “Elite” series for Osprey Publishing. His most recent book is the phenomenal “Our Friends Beneath the Sands” published by Orion Publishing . This is about the final word when it comes to covering the events surrounding the FFL in its classic period in North Africa (and elsewhere). Another fine writer is Douglas Porch who has written extensively about the French military as well as the outstanding Complete History of the FFL. There are other books out there of course and if anyone is aware of them please let me know. I have several others that cover more modern periods of the FFL or only cover them in general terms. I’ve also found many E-books that are easily downloaded from various websites. I’ve listed them below. As I find more I will continue to add to this list.
